I have Seen Him Play 8 different Times in my concert history and He NEVER DISAPPOINTED Every single Show I’ve Seen Live !!!!!!! Rest in Peace my Friend. Keep Jamming in Heaven until the rest of us who Love You will Join You Again!!!!!!!
If you really want to hear the classic Squire Rickenbacker 4001 sound, listen no further than "America". His live sound, as good as it was, never had the finesse of the best Yes studio albums. Listen carefully to the subtleties within "Heart of the Sunrise" and "Long Distance Runaround", merely two examples.
He is quite the bass. Looking forward to meeting and jamming with him in the future. He feels the notes and tells us what they are, not just playing them.
In the mix, he was among the cream of the cream of the crop. Never cared much for his "solos". Played the same solo for 20 years. Lackluster and unimaginative. But again, in the mix, there was none better.
Kenny Drew was a true great - apart from his technical abilities, some of the quiet slow minimalistic tracks he recorded with NHOP showed exceptional harmonic mastery.
