Both were right. I think Kurt did it as a joke almost, but Noel isn't wrong, it took me over music, how many songs are just about being depressed and self pity now? Like most pop songs?
I lost all respect to James Hetfield... You can say funny things that a dead person did, but you can't make fun of it's death, especially if it was s*icide. James Hetfield is like that infamous austrian painter, who was a great painter, but not so good as a person, same here, just James Hetfield makes amazing music while being a disrespectful zero empathy garbage person
I’m going to be blunt and honest I remember that day he died. I was not even 20 and was at home watching MTV and Kurt Loader came up saying that he died I actually cheered. 😞 I was REALLY into Death Metal and I felt Nirvana destroyed it. Now AIC was a different story because they were more “metal” and I really dig Layne’s Voice. Same with Soundgarden. Their last BEST was “Badmotorfinger” not that “Black Hole Sun” crap. Kurt Cobain was NOT the voice of our generation. I’d say it was more AIC or even Tool If Kurt hadn’t passed he would be lopped into the SAME EXACT CATEGORY as Pearl Jam, and many others who exploded at that time. The ONLY REASON WHY he is soo immortalized is because he died BY HIS OWN HAND at the peak of his career. So it’s easy to say “he is the best”
You are incorrect with Kurt having intestinal problems. He had stomach problems. He had severe issues with ulcers. This is why he got into using heroin to relieve the stomach pain. Please get your information correct.
Grunge music didn't kill glam or heavy metal!! It has already run its course. Nirvana was just the final nail in the coffin ⚰️ that was going to come anyways!!!
On what kiss was saying about nirvana and music icons: I mean I get what they were saying regarding that they were only a thing for a few years, but you could also say the same about Jimi Hendrix, and both of their music probably wouldn’t exist without his influence. Furthermore, I find his statement that there hasn’t been any real music icon in the last 30 years to be a really egotistical statemtent like his era was just fundamentally better, when in reality there are many names in the last 30 years that you could call music super icons
The myth that Nirvana pulled people over to grunge is not true , actually Nirvana crossed over into pop. That's why they were popular. If they would have stayed pure grunge they wouldn't have been as popular.
I mean while I agree with all the sentiments. At 32 id much rather listen to Motley Crue than Nirvana. Nirvana was really only relatable to angsty middle schoolers.
I feel like there is a massive difference between how Brits see this and how Americans see it. In UK Bowie is seen as the great genius of popular music, in America it seems like he’s just another artist. I never thought of this as anything other than Bowies, with Lulu and Nirvana doing ok covers of it, no more than that.
This song has always meant the same thing. It’s about dealing with Crohn’s disease and how he’s rich and famous but he’d trade it all for his health. I too have Crohn’s and being anemic comes with it. Milk, antacids relieve heartburn, laxatives for Crohn’s blockage/ constipation. Kurt’s success, talent, money, and fame he’d all give up for his health.
noel had massive respect for kurt cobain and was devastated he missed a chance to meet him before his death. the thing about the song title is true but dont believe this bollocks
