Hi guys! Cooperharley here - welcome to the channel. I’ve played MMOs since the early 2000’s starting with RuneScape and World of Warcraft, and then eventually transitioning to Elder Scrolls Online in 2014, which I’ve recently, as of July 2024, quit permanently.
Starting with the pre-patch for The War Within for World of Warcraft, I’ve now shifted my channel’s focus to covering WoW.
If you're looking for several videos per week detailing World of Warcraft discussions about news in the world of Azeroth (and beyond), subreddit posts that are blowing up, Official Blizzard Forums argumments & topics, in-game event tips, and more, then you've come to the right place! I hope that you leave the channel happier than when you arrived! Cheers!

I always appreciate it if a member tells the group at start "I'm doing quest" or "I'm on a XP scroll" or if they're after a certain achievement. Hate when they wait until the end and complain or end up leaving group. And if you have the crown, make sure people have turned in quests, if you gotta go asap, pass the crown. As for fake roles, at least tell your group, "not a real healer/tank" 😂 I think every dps should play a healer and a tank. It helped me understand my role as dps even better.
So I see alot of "No Aoe taunting is bad" comments and Idk if that is a hot take, but I think these people want an Aoe taunt because of the same reason you mentioned a lot in this video. There dps players suck. If you run a dungeon (I'm just guessing now this is about dungeons) with good dps players and you do your Void Bash, Caltrops, Wall Pulsar, the enemies are already dead. There is just no real use for an aoe taunt, espacially when non elite mobs in dungeons are not dangerous at all In other mmo's I played when a tiny archer focus a dd by accident they lose 60% of the health. But in Eso? Nah small adds are whatever. About Trial mechanics: You will notice tanking becomin "easier" at least for your own sanity, when you start going for trifectas. Before that, getting wiped kinda sucked, yeah. But at this point were every single death means a restart you start noticing its the dps that are sweating the most. Because now it's not just 1 person dying, its the whole run. While as a tank you did that "not dying" shit the whole prog.
Am new to tanking but I will always wait and explain or let newbies do their quests. I also let people know if the content is new to me and feel free to swap me out. Personally? I rather stay in a dungeon after completion until every bag, box, container is searched. lol.
Too true about the 3 dps groups, I had my healer change to a half setup for my dungeon HM prog group its just been easier. Although I have to say they still blame for when they have died for not paying attention. have to say I main an Arc tank its been a whole lot of fun to play I actually enjoy it but sadly end game players do NOT want an arc tank or it has been requested that I do 50k damage as one lol.
These crates are such a scam tbh, imagine if you could earn these cosmetics in game by doing actual quests or dungeons, that would encourage more players to play and grind the game and they would make the same amount of money through sales and eso plus..... such a shame
I will miss u really. You had produced great videos, your comments about patches notes were refreshing. It is hard for many people find a good reason after many years to stay in TESO. For me is easy: i am a books, houses n diagrams friki collector. From Obilivion, ESO is about that to me. In the last year the motif sticker book is another good reason to stay playing. And someday i will learn parsing/weaving technique and became a trial vet lord master. Go ahead dear Cooper, the life have many good thing waiting for you!
Good for you man, I play on Xbox and it's been hard for me as well to keep my interest in ESO. I mainly stay for the camaraderie and what not with guildies, but everything you said is totally understandable. Congrats on the move and future congrats on the family (lol) wish you the best 😊
Sadly this is the disease at the core of every MMO. They are a money machine for the creator company and that side of it becomes more and more evident the longer a game exists. Content becomes worse, less engaging and lesser in scale with each expansion and the demands for *repetitive* 'grind' increase. I played LOTRO for twelve years before those aspects drove me out. I have been in GW2 for less than three years and the "I've had enough of this!" vibe is already kicking in, sad to say. I played ESO for a little while after it came out but the structure of it never really gelled with me. The same with a couple of other more D&D based ones. Now I am thinking what I really want is a multiplayer RPG rather than an MMO - it's the story and the exploring I like, not doing Dungeon-Clears-In-Fifteen-Minutes-Or-Less for crappy gear that'll just be immediately sold :sigh:
I get it, your life is changing. That plus some game flaws has contributed to losing interest in the game. Is it really the games fault? Only you can change your play style. Is ESO starting to feel like a job? If so, then change your gameplay style. Is what your doing not fun anymore? If so, then change what you're doing. If you don't like the lag then don't complain about them monetizing things because improvements cost money. I have a background in software implementation and it's a tricky business to make changes to a live system especially across multiple platforms. Greatness takes a lot of testing, testing takes time and time cost money. The solution to the lag might cause a radical program change which could result in the game only working on PC platform. Part of the issue is the game is already at the boundary of console capabilities. Only those with software implementation background can appreciate this. I have a ESO membership but I know many people that don't. Can you still have fun without buying anything with real money? YES! This is why the monetization complaint doesn't really carry weight. I'm sorry you deleted your account, I don't think that was necessary but you do you.
So in the video, I address all of these points - I assume you hadn’t watched the whole thing, which is why you left this comment. Every aspect of the game has been played, cycled through, repeatedly for 10 years. This is not a “I’m tired of dungeons and I’m quitting!” This is a “I’ve been playing the game for 10 years and I’m just bored of a lot of it at this point.” The horizontal progression is a cool aspect of ESO, but frankly, a lot of stuff that’s been added is simply not my cup of tea. Greatness DOES take a lot of testing and thus a lot of money - why is it then that ESO hits every single monetization structure known(gambling, regular cosmetic microtransactions, skill line skips, buy to play, subscription, etc), when the other MMOs ahead of it in sheer numbers across the board (OSRS, WoW, FF14) are no where NEAR as crazy with the monetization? that argument doesn’t make a lot of sense. I’ve never once argued against microtransactions. They’re absolutely necessary in any live service game. What I’ve not been a fan of is the DEGREE of monetization - the sheer amount that ruins/removes any sort of in game reward structure for most MMO player in place of selling you those rewards.
As someone who has gone through burnouts with different games, this definitely sounds like a burnout right down to all the reasoning on why it isn't a burnout and deleting the account. And that's okay, a burnout is definitively a valid reason to drop a game, even for good. People treat a burnout as a much lighter thing than it actually is. Hopefully you find your fun again.
I mean ultimately quitting any game is due to burnout. But while I don’t feel exhausted from the game, I do feel just a lack of direction and excitement for it which is why I feel that it’s not simply JUST that

It is so true what you said: if you let it, this gane becommes a second job! This winter I experianced the same thing, ESO Burnout. I lost interest. I never enjoyed grinding for revardes. I enjoy playing a story and earning the rewards along the way. I understand and respect you for the cold turky decission and wish you and your wife all the best on your next chapter....NO, STOP thats eso talk! 😉..... in your new house, your family and New games! Thank you.❤
Feel ya. Fallout 76 became the daily "chore" for me, did everything, played every way, all that jazz, which is why I picked up ESO again. But in ESO, I'm still enjoying all the questing content and don't bother with much else. Haven't done it all, probably won't. All the junk sets are pretty annoying. The thing is, it's good to take a break, try other things, or like you said, read a book, touch grass, have a real life. The Game of Life is the most fun of all =)
Time to just take a break. I've gotten tired of ESO plenty of times, but any declaration of permanent leaving is just emotional drain. Other games just don't have the same build variety. I've been everywhere from BDO, T&L, down to FFXIV. Anything can becone tiresome. I couldn't imagine being a streamer and feeling obligated to one game, even when being burnt out..There's no fun in that. That would make me despise any game.
People cheered when they said "Less DLC dungeons! Less DLC content!" because that means everything will be better. I wasn't because I have seen those exact lines before in other MMO's. Less content = Less $$$ going to development, not more. Guessing they are siphoning off ESO $$$ to the new MMO project. Its like EQ2 development days all over again.
Damn... Well GL on whatever you do next. I had just discovered your channel and was planning to sub. I do hope whatever you do next is something you enjoy.
I did when someone says "STAY-vfs". Stayves stayves it's not right. "StaaaaaVes" everything stays the same except the F turns into V and it's plaurel. Not hard people c'mon stop being weird.
I feel a lot of the same way. Hung up the game about a month ago. Tired of poor performance that gets laughed off by zos if you're a pvper. Frustration hit its peak for me after i got a temp ban from their twitch channel after I lightly criticized their performance during their big live stream revealing housing tours (their main source of money).
Hitting CP160 and CP810, those were personal goals, hitting CP3600? No. I can see where it would be for some people, but it isn't for me. I was happy hitting the 'soft cap', but I play on multiple characters on multiple accounts NA and EU. But I can see where someone that uses the Armory Station to change the styles etc, would be happier with having more CP than that soft cap. I'm trying to think of anything that would make me, personally work to get to CP3600 and I can't think of anything ( reasonable) that would motivate me. BUT I understand that a reward of anykind can be a goal to look forward to.
I stopped playing in January, came back for gold road, lasted about a month before the game started me feeling “unexplained grumpy” while playing. Then zos announced changes to warden Arctic blast and I’m done again. Now I spend my gaming time getting freaky with minthara in the sword coast 😂 … not going to delete my account with eso, but not going back, my eso+ is canceled. Feels good to not be “unexplained grumpy” during my gaming time :)
I was there 4 years ago but boredom overtook me. Yes, there are some good games but they can only fill so much free time. ESO is up there with WOW IMO and you don’t need a sub to play. It doesn’t feel pay to win to me either. Have fun with your books.
Dude you have to do what makes you happy! You have become one of my favorite content creators for eso, you will be missed! I can't wait to see what's in store for your channel and will still watch and support it no matter what kinda content. Here's to a brighter tomorrow my friend and good luck in your future endeavors!
I took a long break too, I just log in to get some rewards. The questing is too boring because the combat is lacking in overland. There’s no risk or danger and it lets you win. It completely kills any momentum the story builds which creates an anticlimactic experience. What’s the point in these big chapter storylines if the main villain never feels like a threat?! ZOS tone deaf response to this has also been very frustrating - as it has been on other issues in which they seem completely unwilling to listen to feedback.
