Larry Zbyszko didn't need a manager as he could do his own talking. It was unique for the time to see a major WWF heel not being managed by one of the 3 Wise Men but Larry felt a manager would just get in the way.
I was there that night siiting in section H row 6 ringside, just like every month at the Garden from Feb. 1975 to May 1985. The best time in the history of the WWWF/WWF was 1975 to 1984.
He was great! A lot of people say he was underrated. Was he? I think he was pretty well recognized as great by most fans and fellow wrestlers, always got a ton of work, and was always in all kinds of innovative matches and angles that were all successful.
What a tremendous roster of wrestling greats: Lumber Jacks, Andre & Putski, the Grahams, Backlund, Iron Greek. No question that WWF had the best wrestlers in their shows back in the day. Arion made excellent promos - spoke with much passion. Great wrestler.
