Frans Bak is a highly accomplished composer, with over thirty years experience scoring for the film, TV and advertising industries, receiving international critical acclaim for his compositions for Nordic, French, American and British TV series including ‘Disparue’, ‘Doctor Foster’ and ‘Lilyhammer’. A pioneer of the Nordic Noir genre, his mesmerising music for ‘The Killing’ is widely acclaimed. Frans has also scored three Oscar nominated shorts: Ernst & Lyset, Helmer & Son and Skal vi være kærester? Album, Sound of North was released in 2016 bringing together new music and a number of Frans compositions, inspired by his own upbringing and rooted in Scandinavia, Frans encapsulated the mood of ‘his north’ mentally and geographically, presenting its unique spirit and atmosphere; a coolness, a calmness, a mindfulness, found in much of Frans work. Frans is set to release an album of new musical works, 'Piano', in spring 2020, preceded by two single releases January and March.
Came across this wonderful piece and discovered Frans' works while doing some research on Nordic Noir music. Indeed very soulful music that uplifts the spirit. Thank you very much, and please keep on creating amazing pieces.
Put shoes on hippy. Why do you ignore literally the best track from the show? The scene where Terry says she didn't know it was Rosie, just no where to be found. Morons saying it's Hans Zimmer because you can't put your work out there to be found.
Sara's Theme is the best theme I have ever heard in any tv score! Wish there was even more versions of it available. There were so many great ones in the US version of The Killing as well as the original version! :)
La musica y la serie con magnificos, la trama es apasionante, lo mejor del policial negro nordico, alguna plataforma deberia repetirla para america latina ya que tiene algunos años. La version americana, que como siempre es posterior "The Killing" no le llega ni a los talones
Question for someone from your camp. Love “The Killing” music. My favorite musical phrase is that esquisite key change that plays during the credits. I bought the CD in hopes it was on there but I’m not finding it. Is it on there, or available elsewhere? Great work! Please email answer to Annepowers@mac.com. Thanks!
Håber at få lov til at høre dig igen snart!
Nordic Noir grips my heart and soul, unbearable tragedies, sensitively written and acted. This music compliments The Killing superbly in the drama, the emotions of horrendous loss in the cruelest of circumstances. The pain felt through the music and first class acting. The mother and father's overwhelming loss, witnessing this is heartbreaking. The end credits music had me on the edge of my seat emotionally and mentally every time the music begins, it builds up to a crescendo. The waiting for the next episode was unbearable. I am fortunate to own the full series and other Nordic Noir classics. I prefer Scandinavian drama's they are so superior.
