Living in a small country town on the edge of a major metropolitan is an enjoyable life because I get the best of both worlds. I get the peace and quiet of rural living and the convenience and choices of Urban living. Here on my one acre property I have a flock of laying hens for eggs, rabbits for meat, bees for honey, fruit trees, and a large vegetable garden for fresh produce year round. I am a teacher by profession so I am here to teach you how to live a more self sustainable life through food preservation, animal husbandry, gardening, cooking, and sewing.
I'm hungry for a flavor, David beards catfish kings. This looks to be the recipe except it's not using jalapenos. The wife made it a couple years ago and nailed the flavor but the texture was too soft .👍👍 thank you, green tomatoes are fixen ro hit the kitchen 😊.
I can vouch canned green tomatoes fry up beautifully! In fact, they fry better than raw. Since I'm slicing-challenged, a mandolin slicer (and cut proof gloves) makes the job so much easier. Love Rose Red Homestead! Ohhh, had never thought a dipping sauce - now I'm hungry - lol. Thank you!
I like to cook okra in canned tomato’s. Add a little water and cook until okra is tender. Season with salt, pepper and butter. Good with peas and cornbread. Also good on rice.
I'm not sure quite how I found your channel, but so glad to see you're nearing that 1K subscriber mark! I loved seeing what you're cooking, so good for ideas for someone like me who grew up with different culinary traditions and thinking about how to cook things that are more closely related to what can be grown in a garden (we didn't grow up eating a lot of processed food, but kind of bland preparations, and nobody gardened).
Hi, Sue. Back again. Making another batch. Son coming out in December for 10 days. Yeah! I am getting ready. Good food, less work! More visit time and yard work. I love that baby boy! lol He is my baby, 54. 😍
