I sang this in my mother's choir some 35-40 years ago, bac then still in USSR, and this is exactly how we sang this spiritual. well done to the conductor - wonderful job!

I don’t know why this popped up in my feed, but I’m so glad it did. Soooo good. Brought back memories of my high school choir days, 1988-1992. I couldn’t help but to sing along.
i once sang this in a room full of hundreds of other teens when i was in high school - 2000 or 2001. it was the most profound moment of my life at the time. literally FEELING the music around us, filling the whole room with the sounds of our soft voices... especially the crescendo near the end... sosososososooooooo spine tingling. i still get chills and goosebumps thinking about it and listening to it.... wow.
Ericka Iverson was it the Dorian Festival at Luther college in Decorah Iowa? I was in the mass choir there that year, (2000/2001) and they sang this song. Your description sounds just like the experience I had! It was the most moving musical experience of my life.
Now this is what a region choir should sound like. Very well done, you guys are clearly a high-quality group of singers. Might I ask which region you come from? Is this part of the TMEA all-state program?
