This is a "basketweave" maybe, or a figure 8. But NOT a Low Dye as Dr Dye intended. This does nothing to control the first ray, nor does it place the talus in neutral in the mortise. It does not control over-pronation.
Hey how's it going, just wondering why we pull the thumb into a sort of opposition movement for any injury? Surely all thumb injuries are different are there different thumb tapes? Cheers
Hey Ryan that taping technique will provide medial and lateral support. Depending on the specific injury you may want to provide reinforcement (there are a few ways to do this depending on the movement you are trying to limit). Additionally the starting position of the thumb can also influence the amount of stability in a plane of movement. Hope that helps
