I'm currently worldbuilding a world where yeah, magic is repurposing stored energy to do unusual things, and the creation of the fates was an event planned by the gods to put restrictions on magic, since storing unthinkable amounts of energy from say a quasar or the accretion disc of a black hole and using that energy on a planet could, you know, kill gods tied to physical characteristics of the planet.

Damn those were some of the most original religions I've ever "read" in any fantasy book. Now I don't know how to make mine as original lol

Something I've noticed with these kinds of video are thwt people forget that there are alternative methods that create mountains, islands, mountains, canyons, and valleys. Erosion, volcanic hotspots, and impact events are great examples. Hawaii is an example of a hotspot forming an island and the plate moving creates a chain of islands! There are some mountain ranges formed not by plate tectonics but from denser material surviving erosion better than the surrounding area, causing it to jut up into sometimes huge ranges! And of course the classic space rock impact. Even better is if you're doing a fantasy world, try thinking of what the magic does to these things! What happens along ley lines, if you have them, and where they converge? Are there creatures that can disrupt the natural flow of things in an area? What about the divines?

I think you meant polyamorous not polygamous. Polygamous is that the males have multiple partners but not females. What you described sounds like females also have multiple partners, which is polyamory. There is a separate word for only the females have multiple partners, I think it is polyandry.

Correction about Jupiter: It apparently sends just as many asteroids Earth's way as it redirects away from Earth, it was only the Solar System's guardian during the actual formation of the planets and maybe early life, so Vigil would only be living up to its namesake early in Locus'history of life, if at all.

I find it amusing for your use of aurom you or it as a dust from a mushroom, and for my settings it tends to be ancestral woodlands grown from millenia old elven corpses deep beneath the grove causing a process that basically makes naturally fossilized bone trees, that druids then avidly hunt for and protect the collections of whenever they catch wind of them.

tbh, no cap, the hardest step for me in a conlang is to actually create a word, to name a root word. Like, how can I say "river" in my conlang? Like, there is a bigillion possible ways to do so, and some are good, but I can't choose!

In a fantasy world, this progression of course gets more wobbly. For example, f you use the fairly common trope of gold being useful for magic or easy to magically work, gold could actually serve a functional purpose very early on rather than purely aesthetic. In fact, it could easily take twice as long for your society to move past cold-working if they can make useful enchanted tools using gold.

My pyroxene drow language would have some CCV, CV, CVC and VV syllabals only, and it will allow CV and VV syllabals to stick together, forming rather large vowel clusters. In short a (CC)V(V)(C) structure. "maae" would thus be acceptable, but but "mae" would not. The stress is likely to be at the end of a word.

I wonder what the signs are of a dying plumacortex. Since it’s a keystone species and many animals live there they’d probably notice when it was starting to die and get tf out of dodge before it crumbles.

Protons, Neutrons and Electrons doesn't exist in my Chemistry Worldbuilding Elements are just balls that is as big as a Bacteria. There are four elements that repel each other like it's racism. A compound can only hold 5 elements and the more elements are combined, the less it's attraction to it's brothers. The Elements are not Water, Earth, Fire , Air but, Hedrollium, Erthullium, Dendrollium and Metallium. Yeah electricity doesn't exist but Plasma does. I'm also working on organisms/life next.

My 5 "goals" (I have 7) 1. Relatively Earth like. 2. Fantasy based 3. Technology level is upped to the following: Hostile group: pre/early ww1, Allies: interwar-era(ww1/ww2) Nation on focus:interwar - early ww2 4. SOME mythology (Dragons being the hostile analog for ww1 era aircraft, up armored unicorns as analogs to early tanks, mainly the American armored John Deere Model A prototype) 5. Go ham with the Science. 6. Main character will be not only a naval buff, but also a railroad stakeholder, and a geologist in his off-time, and also owns a mine and a small fleet of ore-barges (yet always wonders why he's poor) 7. Elves and Humans being the main two races...with Dwarves being a close third, but not enough focus to really matter.

I have an issue regarding trade in my current project. The world is mostly uninhabitable, and people have been isolated in very specific areas that only ever rarely let people travel between settlements. I know there will be some form of trade with the outside, but very limited and only for specific luxury resources. I know self-sufficiency is a questionable trope, but is it at least doable? My people have magic allowing easy maintenance of a few big farms, as well as effectively infinite building material for their homes. So they are fed and housed. I'm not sure what else to work on to make it seem realistic and lived-in. Imma do the "list everything you use in a week" exercise, but do you have any other tips on it?

One other thing I wanted to mention about late stage giant stars. If life is possible in a icy moon like Europa it is undoubtedly possible on a earth-sized ice planet outside the habitable zone. When the star heats up into it's giant stage there could be hundreds of millions of years where this planet has an earth-like temperature. In a system like the sun or an f-type star system you would have a icey ocean with complex life below the ice. Over a few million years the star (relatively gradually) transitions to a giant stage, thaws out the ocean and the undersea life can evolve to life on land and liquid oceans. The sun is expected to have a habitable zone at 2-3 AU for a couple billion years once it transitions to it's giant phase and slowly pushing out to a habitable zone as far away as 9 AU which will be stable for a hundred million years. You could see the Europa transformed when this occurs.

Small correction but some very large stars that you think would create black holes actually just completely explode and leave no remnant other than a huge expanding cloud of the stuff they were made of. These are called pair-instability supernovas as well as type Ia supernovas. Also, I'd say that the hotter star types, particularly A-type stars could be habitable but you'd want the planet to have a very good atmosphere for blocking the UV light and this wouldn't work if you assume that life takes billions of years to evolve as it did on Earth. Could be possible for colonization.

Excuse me, but could you perhaps explain how realistic it could be for a rogue Planet to not just be adopted into a Solar System, but it also then having a low eccentricity and being Habitable? Also: If you look at the Eccentricity of Planets in the Solar System, they hardly Follow the Table you gave. This makes me think that such an equation would be a loose Guide at best.
