I did this step by step. When I hit configure in Ableton, then go to the VST and map to parameter, nothing happens. No fader comes into ableton... What am I missing
Hello! Most video formats are supported when the appropriate DirectShow video codecs are installed. By default, ELM can play these files: .mov, .avi, .wmv, .mpeg, .mp4, .mp2, .mkv, .webm, .ogv and .ogg. There’s no video size and resolution limits. The audio track is played back on the default sound device. If not needed, you can remove the audio by using the transcode button. The recommended video format is MPEG4 in an avi file. For smaller files at the expense of a higher CPU usage, you can use H264 in an avi file. And for image files, use formats such as bmp, jpeg, gif (animated or not) and png.
Hello! If a system is working properly, then it shouldn't be an issue. However, systems don't always work properly - which is why the DMX USB Pro includes 1500V isolation to protect your computer. The Open DMX USB (the blue one), however, is designed to be the most basic and affordable device possible, so it doesn't include the isolation.
Hi, a question. My project will involve recording a 30 min DMX light show. If I need to "top and tail" my recording how easy and accurate is the interface? Can I select specific frames and can I see the DMX values being sent on those frames in order to decide when to make the cut? Also is the "start record " command able to take input from another source? Be that midi , OSC or even a key press which can be shared between applications? Thankyou!!
Hi Jimbo! Unfortunately, the S-play does not currently have the ability to trim recordings. However, it does have some nifty tools to help you get your recording just right. One of those is the ability to start and stop recordings using any of the S-Play's trigger methods, including OSC. Hope that helps a bit!
Hi, I recently got a DMX USB Pro and I cannot seem to make bank or program changes through automation in Ableton Live 12. Whenever I try to move the Bank or Program faders (in the EMU device in Ableton) they snaps back to 128 (maximum value) Re-enabling automation in Ableton does nothing. It's like if something is forcing these two parameters to stay maxed at 128. Is this normal? I'm using Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1 on an M1 MBP. The GUI on EMU seems to be rather buggy as well (many of the knobs just float away when I try to adjust them). Could there be a link between the two issues?

The DMX universe is fascinating. I do wonder though why the advancement of the technology has mainly flatlined ever since its inception. There’s software and new controllers out there that help simplify and save time on some things but there’s still a lack of standardization on a lot of things and a refined approach towards setup that doesn’t require the hours of manual labor that go into lighting and effects. I wonder if the base technology is as effective as it gets. But it can’t be right!?

Hi ! I'd want to connect this to a PC that would be on stage, controlling a pre-programmed light show, but my PC doesn't have ethernet connections, only USB. Is there such thing as a male ethernet/male USB cable ? Or would it work with a classic female ethernet / male USB node ? Thank you so much !
Hello , OpenGL is necessary to enable the eye-catching visual effects, such as shaders, but ELM still boasts a wide range of capabilities beyond that. It can handle various media sources, including video playback and receiving NDI streams, allowing for versatile usage beyond just visual effects. :)
uh, I didn't know yet that the licensing system is so ugly... I usually prepare everything on my desktop (more screens etc), and then transfer to the laptop for liveshows. What was explained here, is that I have to do that for every new song we make :/ that's really turning me away

Hi, unfortunately Rekordbox Lighting doesn't support 3rd party DMX adapters, so the DMX USB Pro can't be used. We recommend contacting Rekordbox Lighting to see what they use.

Hi, the ADJ Link console has 4 DMX outputs built in so there is no clear need for the DMX USB Pro and they don't appear to reference compatibility so it's not likely to connect. You can try asking ADJ if it connects with ENTTEC devices because they should know.

I have a ode mk2 that will not show its ip. Is there a way to factory default the hardware with out software. It has a static ip and is not showing itself. Thanks
Hi John, and thanks for your question. Unfortunately not for the ODE Mk2. The best and easiest way will be to connect your ODE to a network with a computer running EMU, and then - if it's not discoverable and needs to be recovered - open the settings menu > settings tab > press the big red ESP reset request button. We do highly recommend not having any other ENTTEC devices connected to the network with EMU when doing this as they will all be reset. Hope this helps get your show back on the road!
Hello! If you mean using EMU software as a VST within a DAW, then you'll need a DMX USB Pro. Otherwise it's going to be a question for the manufacturer of the VST in question and its requirements. Hope this helps!

I would like to control them myself from stage, I’m already running other stage lights trough ableton and lightkey and now looking how i can best add the led panel configuration. Any thoughts?
Hi Jasper, depending on which software is in control between Lightkey and Ableton the best way would probably be to map control in ELM and then integrate control using the remote control of ELM using the DMX remote and Patching the ELM fixture in Lightkey. Alternatively, you can create your sequences in ELM and then use Midi control to trigger your content from Ableton. Hi, the Pixel dots have mounting holes on the sides of them and in this video they are screwed into the board. Hi, we have a number of audio-reactive patterns on ELM (some of which look like your typical graphical equalizers) by default, the audio source is the internal loopback, so if you are playing music from Pandora on the same computer that is running ELM, it will automatically modulate the audio reactive effect accordingly. Alternatively, you can send audio from Pandora using a specific audio input jack, to make sure you don't get any stray/unwanted sound effects coming through. In the application mentioned in the video, this mainly came down to an aesthetic consideration. Since these dots are embedded in the ceiling for direct view, we could adjust the pitch of the dots and the size, to generate different appearances. In this case, ENTTEC worked with the designer to workshop a few different pixel resolutions, until they came to the solution that best met their creative intention and budget targets.
Hi, it depends on the lights because DMX lights require data to tell them what to do so simply turning them on will supply them with power but no data so they will remain black. These are different to household lights which don't require data, they simply turn on and off.
