An excellent video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

Both East and West created basic technologies, but the West pushed these technologies above.We took the chinese's hand cannons which could reach 20m of distance, and transformed them into naval cannons that could reach 2000m of distance in the 17th century.We took our own technology: motors , and then elevated this technology into the sky with planes going 5 times the speed of sound. Giving all credits for the modern Western technologies(Such as machine guns) to the East for inventing lower tier technologies (Such as gun powder) is just stupid. Over 90% of scientific achievements have been done in the West by westerners - source: Human Accomplishment: The Pursuit of Excellence in the Arts and Sciences, 800 B.C. to 1950. The Nazi Germany advanced their technologies faster than China did in 1000 years. if you look at the East right now, all you can see is Western technologies produced by Easterners.

Those of you who declare the other side “stupid”; only succeed to communicate your early stage of understanding. Just keep up with your journey and when you are able to see the truths of others : you know that you gained some wisdom. These documentaries are very good tools to aid such journey. But the problem is that western are not smart at all, and always are stupid want to show they are smart. Everytime i talk or see this kind egotistical western people, i just feel they look ridiculous. if you are not smart, just please realize it, to listen others more. For example, i told a western guy the girl he is liking is dating with a married guy, i saw they were together, that girl is not good girl, go to find other girls. The western guy said I am rumor. Then i feel his brain has problem, he is too stupid, brain is too small. So i stop to telling him anything. If he said he doesnot care, that is also fine, at least he is smart enough, and that is his choose. But the western guy think i am rumor. So stupid ! If i tell this to a chinese guy, chinese guy will half believe, and half doubt, he will judge and do investigation, he will ask me more details , then he will accept what i said, then he will do the right decision for himself. Western people brains are not good to be made. they can not think deeper things.

Sharpyshow , this is my experience. I lived in Europe for two years, I am in usa already 6 years. Yes, there are very smart white people and black people. But the proportion is tooooo small. Suggest you search : super brain. That is Chinese TV show. To find one with English subtitles, that is super talent. In China,there are 40 students in class, normally there are 20 students are smarter than me, but they are modest. In usa, I took 40 Students class, only 7 or 8 students are smarter than me, but all 40 students show they are smart, make me feel they look ridiculous, because most of them are stupid, why they always want to show they are smart?

The “quit” button appears on every single app open in gnome. The “quit Skype” appears even on Windows, if you have set Skype to minimize to system tray when you close it, the “quit” button will minimize it to system tray, meaning the app is still open (you will see it in the top bar), while if you click on “quit Skype” it will log you off of Skype and close the app completely

It's up to the application developers. In case of Skype it's an old app. I don't belive it's in active development any longer but I'm not 100% certain. Anyway Skype for Linux has been neglected for years.

quite interesting theory but the reality check , especially the "unanimous and completely opposite " response statistics from "west" is kind of bullshit... in the real world (western world) response statistics are not much different from the "east" and there is also a big bullshit about answers to negative questions and how "westeners" understand them the only "proper" answer to such a negative question in english is "yes i do like them / no i don't" simple answer yes/no is ambiguous and incomplete for any westener

Very nice and informative documentary, though, I could not fully relate to either cultures. As a middle eastern, I think we are neglected from the globe. Also, there are a lot of differences and mixed cultures around the world (such as middle eastern, Latinos, Africans, etc.....) so it is not very accurate to say the West and then focus on Americans and Europeans, for example, because there are other different cultures who are in the western part of the world, and same for the eastern part.

even the american and british responses are kind of "on purpose" to substantiate the claims in the doc
@tabi-kat1313
@tabi-kat1313 6 лет назад
I agree with you. This documentary was really fascinating, but it's presenting information as if there are only two cultural perspectives that exist. Although it's awesome and teaches a lot of cool stuff, it was definitely made with a Western bias. As a "white" American, descended from German and Anglo-Saxon immigrants, I am not even completely in touch with my ancestral culture. A ton of Western European immigrants to the US intermarried in the 1700 and 1800's, causing the distinct national cultures of the English, German, French immigrants, etc. to be erased. I know that my German ancestors tried to assimilate quickly in the late 1800s. They quit speaking German and Anglicized their last name to become "American". This shows how even within Western European cultures, the culture morphs all the time. And like you said, there are a lot of mixed cultures around the world, because of colonialism, wars, and immigration. Think about all the misunderstanding we have about unfamiliar cultures, and all the prejudice people have against others. It would be awesome if someone made more films like this to give us a broader perspective on the diversity of thought that is present in the world. Not only is it super fun to learn about, but it would help us be more sensitive to others and learn how to communicate better.

'East and West' (2009) disc 2: 'Westerners want see, Easterners want to be' presented by EBS and Korea Educational Broadcast System. "Through careful studies conducted in the U.S., U.K. and East Asia, researchers came to the surprising conclusion that in many aspects, people from the 'East' and people from the 'West' think in diametrically opposite ways. Scientists determined that cultural differences trump theories that the brain's thought processes operate in much the same manner for all people. As cultures and economies become more interwoven, it is increasingly important to understand these differences and how they might affect communication and negotiations in both social and business settings."

I think Martin has mentioned an alternative to Synapse as default launcher in the Destination Linux itw. For the shadow stuff, you can load a customized compton configuration file (we've discussed it in the forum) - I'm guessing the type or name of the window must be added to shadow blacklist or something.
@orschiro9406
@orschiro9406 7 лет назад
Thank you! Indeed, the shadow problem has been solved by adding "shadow = false;" to "~/config/marco-compton.conf". So, Synapse is the default launcher in MATE? I did not know that. Do you know which alternative he is talking about? Maybe Albert of uLauncher. :-)
@tomormiston6592

listen to the Martin Winpress interview on 'Destination Linux'. As he'd said before, Mate is based on the latest gtk and code wise is bang up to date. It's only the look that's traditional, which can be easily tweaked of course. I use KDE myself but I'd easily switch to U Mate if I had a need that KDE didn't fulfill.
