As an Italian, I feel like I want to reassure ALL Brits and ALL tourists from around the planet: ** Venetians hate EVERYONE who is not Venetian, including Italians from other regions. So i completely disagree with Venice being on this list as they cannot stand anyone. Don’t worry! ** With the other destinations listed where they supposedly hate the Brits, I have to agree. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ In Spain you guys are not popular at all.
I was in Tenerife last year and any locals I interacted with were very welcoming. I deliberately stayed in the quiet part of the island though, to avoid annoying drunk tourists 😂

Let me tell you smt: as spaniard in Mallorca everybody spoke me in german in 1989. At hotel in german too... And I am not german. I cannot imagine today. Massification is not good bc not only people but planet itself demands SOS. 😢❤
I am Italian, and I lived in Rome for more than a decade. In recent years, even in the Eternal City, anti-tourist sentiment has increased significantly. The reason is simple: tourists colonize the historic center, clog the streets, produce noise until late at night, indirectly they have caused an unbearable standardization of restaurants, even historic ones, which increasingly conform to "tourist-plucking" policies, with higher prices, bastardized traditional recipes, low-quality base materials, etc... too bad we locals also suffer from this: it is indecent to have to travel 40 kilometers of traffic there and back to reach a place on the countryside for the sole purpose of eating an amatriciana, a coda alla vaccinara or a pizza at an honest price and as Christ commands! We Italians also like tourists, generally - when they respect the city and its people -; but there is one category of tourists (and now I will generalise, but know that I am perfectly aware of the fact that not all of them are like this) in particular, who are extremely annoying: the British (English, primarily). They are terribly noisy (despite the stereotype that we Italians are the ones who make noise!), absolutely inelegant, they don't care about the rules of common sense and the most banal laws of civility and, above all, after 7pm it is impossible to find a British tourist who is not drunk! The result is that they start wandering around the city all night, getting rid of their hangover by vomiting and pissing at every corner (I've had to witness scenes like this more than once); but if only it were over there! More than once the carabinieri (a.k.a. the military police) had to arrest English hooligans, guilty of writing graffiti on the walls of the Colosseum and bathing half-naked in historic fountains such as the Barcaccia (in Piazza di Spagna [Spanish Steps]) or the Trevi Fountain! Apparently they behave like this in other European cities too, since they don't seem to be welcome anymore... Having said that, I repeat, we Italians love tourists, even the British ones; really, you are welcome, but remember to respect the place you visit, its monuments and, above all, its inhabitants. But if you come here to drink and make a mess, well, stay at home: Italy is not an amusement park.
As a French, I am very sad to see we are not the most hostile place to Brits anymore. Things have surely change since that good old "best ennemies" rivalry...
I can avoid the €7 charge by using one of the many small boats left on UK 🇬🇧 beaches. If I don’t make it all the way across I’m sure the French coastguard will give me a lift to Calais and I’ll get a nice free hotel room with full board and a free phone with internet. Yay lucky me. 😂😂😂😂😂
It's a matter of fact, unfortunately, that not British but ENGLISH tourists are used to behave very badly, very disrespectfully, very disgustingly. Here in Germany we - again - had to note that during the recent EURO. And if you try to talk to some of these persons in the very situation you are shouted at and blamed for WWII. Here in Berlin English tourists neither are welcomed any longer. They behave like the town were their personal possession. Always drunk, always loud, always offensive, they p*** in elevators, they vomite in stairhouses - while blaming you, as a resident of this house, for WWII. Disgusting.
Somerset House "unsuitable for children" - uh yeah. Not everything has to cater to the fruits of your loins. And I echo everyone ... how a free museum is overpriced. What's that? Oh, souvenirs for the children are expensive? Did 10 year olds do this survey?
Honestly if it means we get to use the e-gates again it sounds quicker and more convenient than the current system. The 7€ fee is hardly a big deal when you’ve already had to buy flights, hotels etc.
The assumption that every single person in the UK is complaining about the new Etias is statistically impossible. Please check your facts before posting. Are there any citizens of other countries this will affect (e.g., 🇦🇺, 🇨🇦, 🇳🇿, 🇺🇸) that have an opinion on this?
It's not just the UK that will have to pay €7, but all non-EU & EEA passport holders: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and many others. €7 is around £5.90, the same price as a beer or a tea & coffee and a sandwich in any UK airport. So, there's another reason to find a relative who was born in a current EU country.

They need permission from both the local government for planning permission, and then they also need the UK gov to authorise its use as an embassy. If they build it but the UK refuses to grant it embassy status then it’s just a big white elephant. Would be pretty comical though
