He was a champion if he stayed in Australia only like a certain Winx I have no doubt he would of won the Cox Plate 4-5 times but we will never know he did run in the Cup for 3rd outstanding run something Winx never did picked choose those races just to keep her unbeaten run never ran in a handicap idiots saying she could of Wilson the Cup or The Galaxy pie in the sky stuff they never were going to race Winx in a Handicap or in a Field that had 18-20 horses in it like a Epsom or Doncaster like Sunline did No1 in a Doncaster not every race WFT ! Getting back to So You Think he did more winning Group 1s in Europe than Winx ever did winning the Cox Plate Queen Elizabeth against small weak fields in Australia they cost Australia & New Zealand millions in breeding because if she had run over there or Japan or Hong Kong Europeans would of come down to the Sales every year trying to buy the next Champion
The three years i worked for dodgy rogie as a track rider at the sydney stables in randwick where i witnessed the decline of his success,despite having a large stable of expensive well bred horses to work with he failed to produce many actual race winners,there was a large number of horses that never reached there potential,many broke down & suffered leg & tendon injuries, he was the milkshake king,horses given a saline solution mixed in with bicarbonate of soda that was a masking agent to hide illegal steroids & performance enhancing drugs in the blood & urine system that was administered the night before & on the day of the race,Rogerson was forced to close his Australian training base & returned to new Zealand,
I remember my father telling me when I was young that he named me after a racehorse called Daryl’s joy,I was born in 1970,in Wellington,New Zealand,is very interesting to learn about the history of this horse & how successful his racing career was competing at the highest level,with impressive performances,true champion.
A jockey who ride finisher horse well I'm a big fan of Shane dye, when he were in mauritius he were associated for Gilbert Rousset stable it was that time I start following this jockey he were very good on finisher horse I will never forgot a wining for rameshwar stable he were on saziwayo that was a monster finish on line when the commentators did not see Shane dye coming on full speed on the horse that was a memorable win that day 200m the horse were not in the race,the horse has run only last 50meter wining in front of 3 horse on the same line....

Daryl's Joy won 1200 to 2500mtrs ... Cox Plate an Victoria Derby.. He would have won the Melbourne Cup ... Definitely a Superior horse than Vain ...
Sad but true Kiwis hardly know who Daryl's Joy was one the most underrated horses ever to race out of NZ. Vain was a more brilliant horse over a short career IMO.
Seamer's BMW ride was so patient. He could have stopped her and hooked out earlier but he patiently waited for Universal Prince to make up the ground first and then he was able to ease without losing momentum. Along with Steven Arnold's Sydney Cup win on Gallic the most patient winning ride I've seen.
Slight correction. Stormy Seas didn't finish 2nd to Gunsynd in the Caulfied Cup. Gunsynd never won that race. Stormy Seas finished 2nd to Sobar in 1972 Caulfield Cup with Gunsynd 3rd
