I remember going to Butlin's Bognor, with my, sadly now late, parents in the 1960s, uncertain if it was 1967 or 68 [I think the latter is more likely]. I would either have been 9 or 10 at the time. It is a little sad to watch this now I'm old, as all those who were little kids in the film will also be elderly now and all their parents will be dead.
I had a shop teacher in High School that told the story of the Turbinia sailing in circles around the British Fleet to get the Attention of the Admiralty. This same Teacher also said never loan Money it will never be Repaid !
Mine went right down f 25 turned the 2 valves underneath overshot water pressure so bled radiator like you seems to of done it. Still need them out to see boiler tho as leak coming from somewhere to make it drop in first place. Thanks for this video really helped ❤👍 Mine is a ecoTEC pro 28.
Hi David. I trust you are keeping well. Please can you do a re-make of the Tinker Traveller set up and tell us about your adventures Sailing it. Thanks.
Bar is full on vaillant boiler ,I don't know what to do ,today it was man to fixed because boiler went off ,and he didn't do properly right. Tomorrow morning someone will come to fix checking.
My cousin lived in Lyon Street, Bognor and I visited the camp many times in 1968 when I stayed with her. I went back recently and all the character had been sucked out of it.
That was fun. My 2nd great grandparents, William and Ann Evans Rawle lived in Milverton. They resided at a place called Carriers Gate during the latter half of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century. Thank you for posting this. :)
This looks exactly as I remember. My first experience of Butlin's was a day visit to the Bognor camp in 1966. We liked it, so came back for several years, booking for one week each time. We always went out of season to save money.
My son sang in this Choir. Mr Ellis was the choir master. I can't thank Mr and Mrs Ellis, the choir and the Abbey for the support they gave to my son. He's now been accepted into Trinity Laban.
In fact we were a choir that visited to sing just for the weekend. We rehearsed Leighton's Second Service and sang it for evensong. Conductor was the sadly late William Wingate and organist, Alex Berry, now (2021) Music Director at Bradford Cathedral. It's a wonderful thing to be a daily part of. It's a foundation for life.
@@dac3uk thank you for replying and clearing that up. I loved listening to the Choir practice, it really helped me find my faith. I remember my son visiting other churches and singing. Your choir is amazing. I have zero musical talent, but they sound amazing. Thank you again for replying and clearing that up.
@@dac3uk i imagine im not your usual type of listener. I have dreadlocks, tattoos a many piercings, but choral music moves me in a way that no other music can. Put that together with the amazing architecture and acoustics of a church or Abbey, its an experience everyone should have, at least once in their lives.
Roasting hot water is now hissing out of the overflow pipe bottom right. Have opened the (grey) valve to lower pressure, but no avail. This seems to happen every couple of months.
What a strange thing, looks interesting though, reminds me of the Bible in the book of Matthew 7:15 ESV, false prophets are described exactly like this.
David I’ve seen videos posted sailing but without side stays in place so I’m a disappointed no rig set up included but otherwise a great video thank you I’ve been looking at one as fun sailing come runabout
In fact no he wouldn't have been old enough or even born in 1805. But he had served as a seaman under an officer who had himself been one of Nelson's Captains at Trafalgar.
The top op valve leading to the boiler for filling the system is probably where the fault lies. Part £2.50, but you may need a plumber to fit it for you. It could be a stainless braided hose, with the valve in the center, in which case its about £7.50 in screw fix. Turn off water, replace valve/hose, refil to start of green strip.
For me ... the pressure was rising even when heating off and boiler cold ... turned out to be filling loop valves letting by .... very common fault on these apparently ... just removed filling loop on RHS only after setting pressure at 1.4 bar cold with system off, during which i noticed continuous dripping below and pressure dropped to 1.2 bar ) then simply fit male and female 1/2" BSP blanking caps with rubber seals (£5 total) to respective ends leaving filling loop connected on LHS .Turned on heating and problem solved without costly call outs! If and when i need to top up system which is rare ...( maybe every year or 2) then remove caps .. refit braided filling loop ... top up and then repeat! Don't see the point in messing around upside down and risking disturbing pipework by replacing with new valves which are costly - £25 each - and will probably fail again! Problem solved within 10 mins and under £5. .......well .. that's after hours upon hours of diagnosis reading manual ... watching every dam youtube video .... bleeding rads ... draining system ....pumping up expansion tank pressure etc etc !! Just check if the pressure still rises when cold with heating off and avoid using hot water for sink bath for a couple of hours .. if so ... this is probably your easiest cheapest fix! .... and btw the gauge isn't great for assessing accurately the pressure ... press the - minus button instead!
There are about a dozen different Vaillant Combi's being adjusted on YT. cos of the pressure problem. NONE of them shows my model, only 6 yrs old ??? but same issue.
@@ianbuckley9530 Mr Kenny and Mr Scourfield were the teachers I think. I hated having to stow your hammock every day. I could never get the hang of all the tying and that....
In many ways, this was a film of my Childhood: in 1968, I was 9 and we owned a T24 (or maybe we were still sailing Victories? Not sure, it was too long ago) but the Atlanta was common in those days, and I can really remember the ports looking like this. I particularly noticed the lack of a kicking strap on the boom, a feature which became common a few years later! That year I remember walking on the downland near old Harry rocks on a school trip and pointing out an Atlanta sailing across the bay to one of my teachers.
I was on there in the late 60s for 2 weeks during the summer holidays. Was definitely Portsmouth. My Dad worked for Camper and Nicholsons in Gosport and had sent the Campers work boat out to assist a crew of novice rowers in a gig. Good to know that the Foudroyant is still afloat..
