@1:40 Talking about interviews and sponsors, IIRC when RJ was interviewed recently he admitted to no longer following the sport largely for this reason. MX/SX has fallen victim to corporate blandness, all the riders have the same opinion and identical Employee of the Month smiles and parrot "My Monster Energy Dunlop Tyres Chevy Trucks Kawasaki was really hooking up". BITD we had crazy redneck Damon vs. CA surfer dude Chicken vs. Farmboy Jeff Stanton vs. Rude Frenchman Bayle and it was a lot more entertaining. People need their heroes to be imperfect individuals like themselves.
Great interview. Dean is a humble guy. Loved the story about his brother Rudy holeshoting the 82 Trans Cal. As someone who was there, the bikes he built for his brother were truly the fastest 125's, period!
Awesome show as always. I am 57 and have been following the sport since the 70’s. Your show keeps the history of MX/SX alive. Thank you for what you do! Thank you Yamaha, Dunlop, PC, Nihilo, Seat Concepts, Pro-X, etc. for supporting this high-end show.
Raha is such a rad and humble dude. He’s a prime example of hard work, dedication and consistency can in fact pay off. Watching him makes me wanna get back into Moto. I miss having a creative outlet. Good luck to you man. Ps. You are an excellent interviewer. You deserve a million + subs.
Vous faites tous les malins en faisant du off road sur des pistes bien sèches mais rendez vous dans les bois laa boue et les aurnieres et on en reparle
That was super interesting, and easily one of my favourite Whiskey Throttle episodes. I was one of those kids that read Minicycle Action magazine. That magazine made those guys rock stars. It was cool to hear names like Steve Schmitz again. I believe he was Suzuki's first ever factory mini rider. Loved the Brian Myerscough stories. Haven't heard S&W and Curnutt shocks in a while either. Thanks.
What about head work? I'm an X two stroke racer. I rebuilt my own bikes and was a decent mechanic but not much of a tuner. I've had Plenty of ported, polished, Piped, Rad valved two strokes but was always running 94 octane. I heard milling the head or increasing compression and then switching to race gas, is where you really get bang for your buck and big power with a two stroke. What do you guys think?
Yep, that's the secret to these for the last 20 years, deck the head ever so slightly. I want to say like .04, but can't remember the exact spec. That's the first thing to do with the old girl and it's cheap.
Get rid of the 450's and bring back the 250 2 strokes as the Premier class. Hearing you rip that thing reminded me of the good old days at a national. Beer in one hand, and fist waiving with the other. Imagine what Jett or Chase, even Hunter and Coop could do on those things. It would definitely be an unforgettable experience.
PING YOUR THE MAN . BUT YOUR BALD HEADED FRIEND Has the stage presence of a ear of corn . also Kitchen won a few and was up front many times not every can be the champ . and to mac is not the Tomac of old Injury ,injury injury . It changes every one race pace is A thing u cannot take A break from also the number 47 was riding injured .
Jett will continue to improve just as Hunter and other riders have in their 20's. Can't wait to see Hayden, Jett, Hunter, Chase & maybe others go at it in the future. Great time for MX/SX.
Ping, how about next year, we have SMX round 1 is a traditional SX track with whoops so they can setup their suspension for it. SMX round 2 is a traditional MX style track and then the final round of SMX is the hybrid style. Thoughts?
Beaver, I feel like this generation of 250 riders are more focused on being businessman than winners. Not saying that they don't want to win, but I think they are more aware of their marketing, merch, bonuses, sponsorship deals, etc. They just don't have that killer mentality that Stew, RC, RV, Chad, Stanton, etc had.
Great content. But I feel you missed an important angle. Who is in charge of dressing poor James Stewart 🤔👀? Guy looked like pimp? Maybe he was in Vegas to announce and get his freak on?
This is Why deegs wants to win everything bc when he just settles bc of a huge points lead all of RU-vid starts a huge investigation on the rider he let win lol Deegs both motos was chill and kept 3 to 5 seconds back he even said that he was working on that when he won second round. He put a charge on for two laps and realized you do not have to do this. Brown can never get a start or come through the pack like Deegs does. He is the only one.
Guys can you specify total clicks from bottomed out on rebound settings? You didnt mention where you started. Same for HS comp on the shock. Just said backed it out 1/4 turn. Dont know where you started! Thanks guys! Love the content
When I was a kid I would see Myerscoff practicing all day at Saddleback. That was later when he was 125 pro Honda. At that place the tracks were beat up even on race day.
