Even though labradors are obedient and easy-going dogs, raising one can be challenging. So I created this channel specifically for Labrador parents to help you learn more about this breed.
My twenty months old American Lab Robin attacked an intruder who came inside my garden to collect some mango leaves for worship. I rushed to the garden and saved him in time.Robin was sctatching the poor fellow when I reached the spot, but didn't bite him.He is very protective and possess a strong, athlete type body.

0:39 “High energy”. You got that right. Our current lab is a black lab, and the first one we’ve gotten. And she is absolutely CRAZY. Even when we take her on walks several times a day, and play with her all day, she’ll still be bouncing off the walls and everything around her.
Wow another Nieves video. Black and yellow are XnY chromosomes. Chocolate on the other hand are O a recessive gene. They used to get rid of them at birth and u never breed o to o
I have a puppy his father was an english lab and his mother was an american lab and he is purebred but i dont know how he will look like when he grows up
My lab is a papered akc full breed he is yellow and white not all of this is true in the video also DNA test shows he is 100 percent full lab not mixed or mutated with another breed of lab
Sorry but labs with white markings are probably not pure bred dogs but no matter they have enough lab in them to make wonderful pets. Labs make wonderful additions to the family.
This whole video is based on a fallacy! There are not two types of Labrador! There are Labradors bred to Standard and Labradors not bred to Standard. "Field or American" Labradors are no different than the "English". English are what a Labrador should look like. The idea that, to use your terms, an English or Show Labrador is not athletic is ridiculous! The whole breed was bred specifically as hunting / working dogs! To sum it up, there is only one Labrador! This whole video is wrong and full of fallacies and disinformation!!
My pup is 5 months old now, and we always tried the 'OW!' method, but that just made them more excited. Now at 5 months, they still nip at hands, and sometimes snap at you when you take a kid's toy or sock out of their mouth (or other things they shouldn't have), and always, ALWAYS bite at your sleeve when petting.
I have 10 YO female Black Lab, I have had two other Labs. They may not be "guard dogs" in the "attack dog" sense of the word but they are all excellent "watch dogs" My 1rst Yellow Lab, she would bark if someone came to the door or she heard a noise. The one I have now will sit on the sofa and will bark if she sees someone walk by on the road or pull into the driveway. The bark is a very loud, from the diaphragm 'Woof Woof Woof" type of bark that will scare most prowlers away.
It’s hard to tell from the color. I’ve had a Black, Yellow, and Fox Red. The Black was aloof, the Yellow was kindness and tolerance, the Fox was happy and playful. They were my favorites of many dogs. My Shepherd was much smarter, and my two Pyrenees are better behaved. Love them all, but ADORED my Labs.
I wouldn’t say colour makes a huge difference. We’ve had 3 black boys now, all have completely different personalities. Our first couldn’t be left on his own, he was hugely anxious and loud and honestly kind of annoying, high motivation to food. Second, very quiet, almost too quiet. Happy to chill out, did his zoomies in the morning but after that nothing, not needy at all, happy to be by himself, incredibly high food motivation. 3rd, very attached, less needy than our first, more inquisitive than the second, low food motivation, he likes it, but whereas the others can be taught tricks even through age, our third really doesn’t get motivated by food, more so cares about belly rubs and being the favourite. People don’t understand that dogs have wildly different personalities, same as other people.
My chocolate lab Daisy always looks way too skinny. Often I have to plead with her to get her to eat. Her daughter Mossy is way too fat. When you have three labs, it can be quite the challenge to make sure each one gets the proper amount of food, not too much or not too little, because you have to play policeman while they eat.
Black labs are insanely loyal, almost to a fault, but that means what ever they do, they give it 100%. By far the most reliable work dog of the Labradors, this can result in an over dependence on owner attention and commands, good for strict training and tricks but can struggle to switch off for relaxation. Golden retrievers tend to have more independence and free thinking, which can sometimes come out in childish behavior or petulance, but owners tend to enjoy that more human child like behavior.
Black Labs are more outgoing and more playful, in general. But since you can get ALL the colors in one litter, it's hard to quantify as an absolute. But Black Lab mixes do seem to retain more of the desirable Lab traits. As I often say, "Black dogs are best dogs".
Also, Labradors HATE to be alone. They are really clingy, needing a lot of attention. Create train them early on and try to teach them to be alone for at least one or two hours (we still fail at the second one because we feel bad about letting her alone, but I work in home office, so she won´t be left alone more than an hour or two).
we have a 7 months old black lab girl and yes, she is as described: stubborn, energetic, loves food, loves water (also in winter, she literally does not care at all about getting wet at all). additionally she not only loves to fetch things, she loves to run away with them getting chased, like kids do. we train her a lot, but she still just decides when to follow a command and when not... if you are not strict, she just do not listen at all, leading to me being the only person, she follow most commands, while husband and teenagers are well liked but not respected :D don´t get a labrador, if you want to have it easy, these big floofs are cute as hell but a lot of constant work
My 43 day old pup bit my mom and scratched my sister, he doesn’t like to play , he’s only interested in biting , he’s always trying to bite others , what can I do ?
I’m going through exact same thing, my labrador puppy is 42 days old and she is always hungry or biting us. She never wants to play with us and always ready to bite. This is the toughest.
Ive had, raised, bread them, whats the point? If anything black labs might me bettet waterfowl dogs, chocolate maybe better upland dogs, but i might be rich if didn't waste 2 min watching 🦧
My silver lab never ONCE chewed anything other than her designated toys. I could even leave other stuffed animals on the floor and she never touched them. I feel so blessed 😂
