Even though labradors are obedient and easy-going dogs, raising one can be challenging. So I created this channel specifically for Labrador parents to help you learn more about this breed.
Never have to worry about em, friendliest dog ya could find but if someone comes through the door in the middle of the night. It'll be a different story.
If you’d nock on my door you probably wouldn’t think it was a 46 pound lab that was barking at you lol. I don’t think he would do anything though he’s way too nice.
Yes, my Nukka is always hungry. She could eat 10 times a day if possible. And she is constantly begging for food. She is dog who helps me as disabled person and always get 1 peace of dry food for each task. But for some time now she does tasks she was not ask for just to get something e.c. opens door, get tissues, switch the light on in the middle of day. She started gaining weight so we decided not to feed her during our meals no mater how much she cries, Gives us a paw, drulls...
Tell this to my lab who growls and barks at every noise all day long, he stands at the window 70% of the day growling at cats dogs people 😂 if it came down to it I don’t think he would protect me though he’s to soft 😂
My lab defended both my property and my neighbors when religious zealots banged on the door after sundown. I let her out and she was superb! Stayed in the yard but gave them the full deep bark warning so ensure they wont be back. Both my neighbor snd I were very impressed what she could do. Pure bred field lab retriever. This answered all my questions. Maybe they wont attack/bite but they will use 80 lbs of body language and deep barking to get the point!
my lab had a distinctively different bark inside the house late at night, hair stood straight up tail pointing with very serious and concerned look.....would think they smart enough to know who is and who isn't suppose to be there.....nobody wants to F around and find out with 100lb dog....this I am pretty damn sure of if you aren't greeting them at the door, they aren't suppose to be here.....never had to worry as no one ever came in but a few times, she definitely sensed something she did not like and seriously doubt she was gona greet with open arms if it came to that twice while riding in front seat of my truck stopped at red light on 2 seperate occasions over 15 yr span, she growled at men using the crosswalk directly in front of us....she was very friendly but did not like these people for whatever reason and they looked just like normal people....I trust she had a reason beyond what we as humans can comprehend would never doubt the instinct of a dog I raised
British Labs have been selectively bred for hunting and hunting trials at least as long as American labs and they are as wonderful in the home as they are in the field
I think so lab is made for me i will purchase lab pup in 2-3 days its best for me cause i love to walk 2 times a day and i dont have any siblings so i need someone to play with me ❤ they r best for me
My ex husband has a Labrador, the first one passed away after one year sadly. His second Labrador has such a beautiful personality. I baby sat my ex husband‘s 1.5 year old Labrador while he travelled to Japan for 3 weeks. Such a beautiful experience, she‘s so loving but yes, I had to take of work because she needs so much exercise, time and attention. I was literally up at 5 a.m. out on fields and in waters exercising with her. I miss her terribly now that the three weeks are over. They are wonderful, wonderful dogs.
Colored patches are not a rarity, there’s a really really good working line of black labs that have a white patch on their chests, very Labrador & very purebred. If green eyes are another rarity the entire litter of puppies I got my chocolate from are rare. We’ll see as all 11 grow, but at 6 months old they all still have light green eyes.
I Have a Field Bred American phenotype Chocolaté Labrador from multi titled Retriever/Pointer Champion Parents & All generations going back. He is night & day different from our show Bred Labs! Way way more exercise, socializing, & training! He’s like a pro athlete & our show dogs are more like body builders. If you’re not going to seriously hunt or compete in working dog competitions or don’t have large breed working dog experience DO NOT get a working bred dog, you’ll thank me later!
There’s no difference between the colors of these dogs. The difference within the breed are usually determined by Field Bred & Show Bred Labs. I have extensive experience with field/working labs, their energy levels, stamina, & drive are totally different. All working breeds have been separated by working 🆚 show dogs in the modern world. Some people don’t know the difference & are unpleasantly surprised when they find out the difference. Working dogs require much much more of everything!
We have a yellow American lab, now 9 years old. Most amazing dog we could have asked for. Loving, caring, gentle and active. My kids grew up with him and not once did he even try to bite them, even when they bothered him. Now my kids are all adults or teenagers and he always looks in their rooms and around the house for them when they are out with friends. You do need a good vacuum, they shed for 10 dogs.
My twenty months old American Lab Robin attacked an intruder who came inside my garden to collect some mango leaves for worship. I rushed to the garden and saved him in time.Robin was sctatching the poor fellow when I reached the spot, but didn't bite him.He is very protective and possess a strong, athlete type body.
