To do this job properly you have to take the lower ball joint out and separate it from the knuckle and take the axle out of the knuckle. Remove the knuckle from the strut and the strut will come right out . This is not a job you should do on the street. You see he doesn’t show how he got the strut and knuckle lined back up. It was probably him and two other people.😂😂😂
I tried doing it his way and you are right. I had to ask my friend for help and we STILL struggled with 2 people to get the strut back into the knuckle. I will try your way now for the other side. Thank you 7951!
Heads-up: At the 14:17 mark it is IMPOSSIBLE to push the black tubing/pipe/line (power steering fluid return) forward unless you remove the bolt from the plate it is attached to - which secures it to the strut tower. You don't have to remove the lower screw/bolt - just the one in the top corner. Trace the black pipe/line forward toward the windshield and you will see what I am talking about. Motor Mount torque specs can be found on bigdog50001 automotive video - the specs are the same for pre2013. Thanks for the video! Enjoy.
well done amigo I just did it the same but on the big mount the nut just spin with the screw :( I just left it rest but it won't come out thanks for the good detail video bro. from San Diego CA
My passenger side I can feel vibration and I’m pretty sure it’s the same mounts, gonna try it out appreciate this video a ton man gonna follow ur exact steps
The larger mount is actually two pieces pressed together. There are two dowels that are pressed in to form these into one piece. I very carefully drilled these out for the new part and the part in the car after i removed all of the bolts so i could get drill bit on these. So much easier to remove and replace in two pieces. After all torqued in place, runs like new without any vibration. Choose to do that at your own risk
You make me a little nervous sliding your feet under the car when you only have it up with a floor jack. Never get any of your body bits under a car if it's only supported by a jack and not jack stands...
Nice vedio but putting a vice grip on the strut pole is a very bad idea, if you as much as scratch the pole it will cause the seal to leak and secondly, if the strut pole is sliding down inside you pushing up you have a damaged strut. Quick tip. A bent strut pole will damage the mount.
man i was today hours trying to pull the upper mount and i was afraid to brake the power steering hose while forcing it ,and i see you here pushing it back so easy . ,end of story i bolted again the old mount ,i will try again other day .
You can trace the power steering hose back to the strut tower and unscrew only the top screw which will loosen the Power steering hose. Also, you might need to remove the Engine Torque mount to create more room. The 2nd silver hose has a screw underneath which can be loosen. Let me know if this works out for you.
I was gonna say you have to partially remove the strut tower bar to get that top bolt out. And you also have to support the engine with a jack because the bracket next to that mount needs to be removed as well. I have done this motor mount replaced and its not as easy as it looks
Dude! To get that top plate off I had to remove that plastic piece in front of the windshield and in order to remove that you have to remove the windshield wipers... I had to remove windshield wipers to get to the motor mount 🤣
