I have an 1866 Hong Kong dollar that my friend gave me, this is said to be from his grandfather who is from Hong Kong, I don't know if this is real, I hope you can help me
Please send me clear pictures of the front and back of the coin, weight in grams, and diameter & thickness in millimeters to coinpicker@hotmail.com. Also tell me if it is attracted to a strong magnet.
I don’t need the money so I just collect it for fun. Silver has intrinsic value. To me it is the same as money in the bank. The antique value probably adds 25% over silver value to the right person since they’re in great shape.
Hello, I liked your video, it was very informative. I have some Imari ware if you are a collector. One tiny tea, round cup about 3 inches high, marked Imari ware and one tiny box with a lid it has a bird design and neither piece is damaged in any way. The box I have had for 45 yrs , the cup I have had for twenty years. Let me know if you are interested and I can email pics to you. Thank you for your time and have a great day.
This is a bit of an old vid but keep an eye out for vintage Chinese figures like that but with Chinese makers marks on them, even some mid 20th century Chinese figures can be quite valuable if they are nice quality and have a workshop or makers mark on them. Have seen very large 24-36inch ones go for 5 figures before and they are the type of thing that can still appear sometimes which people won't notice because they aren't antique.
I have been collecting Chinese and Japanese porcelain for nearly 20 years now and those Imari plates are quite attractive and nice quality compared to a lot of stuff that is out there, nice find. You are probably right about the value too, likely around $200, depending on their size. Unfortunately the Japanese market has been flat for a long time and even worse now with the economic situation, if you even wanted to learn more and invest Chinese is the go, although it is a total mine field with the amount of fakes and copies.
Sorry but I keep all my finds. Only thing I scrap is the rolled gold or gold filled jewelry. Western Coin & Stamp in Richmond, BC buys it and sends it to the refinery once he accumulated enough.
You did good with your bags. I recently bought a huge bag of beading/craft stuff from GoodWill sitting behind their counter. Paid 9.99 for it and it was loaded with good beads, compentents, etc. There was 3 bags of leather cording & just that cost over what the entire bag sold for. Another time I bought two bead boxes & a few misc. glass beads in bags. Paid $10.00. Got home & opened the bead boxes and there was a pearl necklace and bracelet w/14K fish hook clasps. I immediately posted the necklace & sold it several days later for about $125.00 That paid for the purchase, gave me $115.00 profit & I had scores of nice glass beads, misc beads & compontents. I rarely see sterling at thrift stores & sales but you did well on those bags you found.
He did get it up and running. He loves vintage Apple products and his bedroom is stacked with them. He’s not CP Jr. but his camera shy older brother. 😂 Also, thanks again for your RU-vid advice!
Thanks for the video! I love it when you find silver. ( I've only ever had one person recognize my voice, and I think that it was 7 years ago. ) Congratulations on the Lalique. Wow! Good for you.
I like the Birks spoons. Just the name carries a premium above the silver content. I found a Lalique Love Birds vase for $5.00 at a surplus sale . It lists for $350 to $500.
I do not like to clean coins. Only exceptions are excavated ancient coins, metal detector finds or acetone with cotton swap to remove PVC contamination. If coin is just dirty, rinse with water and pat dry with paper towel.
Not at all. I sell it locally as a bulk lot. A good way to recoup some money to buy more bags to search. I try to recycle, repurpose and reduce waste, and donate goods. Every household here only gets bi-weekly garbage pick-up and weekly food scrap compost/yard waste & recycle pick-up so we have to be eco considerate. Metro Vancouver is a pretty green region.
What a wonderful surprise! You found a lot of great stuff. I am so thrilled that you continue to find sterling at thrift stores. And for 50 cents. And a Georgian piece! I would be back at that store a couple times a week! My earliest piece of silver is also British and around 1820. I buy stamps at estate sales anytime that I can find them. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you find this year!
