Hello and welcome to Badger Workshop. I'm Matt, I'm a maker and I love making things! In my videos, I aim to show you how I make my creations using the materials I love to work with: wood, leather and metal. I will show DIY tips, ideas for upcycling and craft projects. I also talk about and review the tools and equipment that I work with, to hopefully give you the confidence to start your own projects.
Work is fantastic, although i don't think leaving planes in the window with sun and condensation is the best thing to do. varnish on handles will get ruined and blades get rusty,
I made a rack similar to that for the spoke shaves. Because I was worried about the bits snapping off because of the direction of the grain, I put some screws in from the rear (the longest I could without protruding out the front). 5 mins job done, none have ever snapped. Great edit as always Matt. Thanks for the video.👍
Show us the planes!! Id actually love a plane restoration video matt. I know theres alot out there but i cant get enough of them! Id love to see your take. Especially restoring multiple planes
One question: putting hand plans near the windows, will the sun damage the color? By the way, the holder of your spoke shaves, it looks two tones after you put finish on. Very pretty.
I have a spokeshave. I used it only once in 6 years and it was not going well so i used a power carver instead. You have seven spkeshaves. I respect this.❤
Hi Matt, That look's amazing in your workshop on summers evening just looking through window at your wood planes as the sun goes down sitting there with a beer, nice. Great video as always Take care
Love how you put together the shelf for the spokeshaves. Think I'll be copying that! I found spokeshaves were always difficult to store, but not anymore 😊
The trouble with a window display is that it can get really damp with condensation so your planes will get pretty rusty unless you slather them in oil. 👍
Looking very nice would you consider making a 7foot a frame wooden ladder would be interesting and very handy to have as I'm thinking of making a 8 foot a frame ladder to cut my conifers
How heavy does it feel? I had the corded gcm8 of this . Loved everything about it but the weight. Was really awkward. I cant really find a lighter version with all the features of this and the gcm 8 around the £400 mark😢
Just got myself one of these, it came the day after surgery on my hand so I've been staring at the box for a week. Looked through the instructions and have to agree, bloody awful. Tempted to make a video of my assembly efforts. Wish me luck.
Would love to know the cost of this. Just looking at getting a shed and I'd like to build myself as off the shelf look pretty crap but don't know if way more expensive building to the standard you have here ( would think so).
Hi Matt, need your advice please. I need to invest in a bench top drill press and ideally a band saw, what would you recommend without breaking the bank but one that won’t break after a couple of weeks - thanks 👍
I do admire your ability to take these things apart and put them back together. I can guarantee that if I did that it would never work ever again. Once, armed with a Haynes Manual, I changed the brake pads on my Ford Escort. When the job was done I had a couple or three screws/bolts and two springs left over. Funnily enough the brakes worked fine afterwards.
@@Badgerworkshop The only negative I can recall was the balance was a bit odd and the attachment could sing around the drill axis. Electric drill attachments to do all kinds of things in the 60's and 70's. I can also remember a trim saw sized circular saw.
