My brother used to do things and look straight at my mom waiting for a reaction. If she got scared, he’d scream and cry. She did that a lot. Once we got her to just SIT THERE and not react…he didn’t cry our scream. He just found a new game to play.
My mother used to tell me this all the time. No matter how terrified you may be in the moment, stay calm and your child will look to you, literally, for guidance. Thus is what they mean by taught behavior.
the fear of animals is transmitted to children by their parents, I was lucky because my mother taught me from an early age not to be afraid of any animal and how to behave and interact with them, animals are the most beautiful thing in this world and it is sad that some children have preconceptions about some of them because of their parents

I definitely developed my arachnophobia from my older sibling so yes you aren't born with fears but develope negative and positive feelings towards things based on your surroundings and others.

My 3 yr old tripped and fell onto tiles, my brother inlaw (40) and his male friend were freaked waiting for her to cry. She didnt, because i always waited to see if she will cry first to determine if she is actually hurt or just scared. I went over to her scooped her up and said your a silly goose and she went on her way.
