I am the author of the book Deadly Guide: The Search for the Killer Made-For-TV Thriller which I published on Barnes & Noble under the name Jennifer Ranier Woods. Please join me as I discuss the movies that have stuck with me over the years, many of them from the '80s and '90s, many of them made-for-TV.
@JayHarangue I loved it! But I'm a huge fan of Shawnee Smith. Tracey Gold was good in this, but Smith conveys so much through facial expressions alone. I thought it was cool this was directed by the woman who directed Madonna's "Like a Prayer", etc.
@@JayHarangue I loved No One Would Tell (2018). In some ways, I thought it did some things better. I've only seen pieces of the new Dying to Belong. But I just had to include it in the video.
By the way, I loved Heathers and Gone in the Night. Those are my two favorite movies of hers. I read the book Gone in the Night was based on and have heard about the true case on Unsolved Mysteries and the radio back in the early '90s. The case is actually from the '80s.
Oh this film based on the true story of Amy Carnevale...such a sad story. I actually didn't come across this Lifetime film until a few years ago. I guess I had fallen down the rabbit hole of looking for some 90s movie to watch and it showed up in my feed. It's a bit strange watching Fred from "The Wonder Years" play the role of someone so evil. On RU-vid, there are loads of jokes regarding how Uncle Jessie and Uncle Joey are going to take action because of what Kevin Arnold did to DJ Tanner!
Yikes! While I don't remember these cases, I do remember 1992-1993 being the time frame (I was also around the ages of these girls) that children were getting abducted. Scary times! I enjoy true crime stories too! Thank you for sharing these with us!
@JayHarangue Btw, I came up with a fun challenge. How can I find ways to recap a Lifetime movie without resorting to socially accepted made-up words and acronyms. It's been fun. I hope I mostly succeeded.
I just ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ONE!!!😂 You put such humor in it!!😜 Who puts a plant?? Oh yeah, my MOTHER!!!!😂😂 SOOO TRUE!!!🎉 AND A GUY WITH A HOODIE ON A BIKE?? SERIOUSLY!? GIRL, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE THIS EPISODE!! I HAD TO LISTEN TO IT I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD AND THEN RESTARTED TO LISTEN FOR THE MOVIE!! LIKE SHE'S PAUL BUNYAN!!!!😜😜🤣🤣💯🤦🏼♀️ 5 STARS⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks! So glad to hear you enjoy them. And glad they are unlocking Lifetime memories of the past. That's what we fellow Lifetime watchers are here for!
I've seen so many people looking for the title of this one online! They only remember a few details. Like the cleats. One person got confused because of the Chowchilla movie with the same name.
@JayHarangue I'm doing In My Daughter's Name soon. That's another one. They'll say, "What's the name of the movie where the girl is murdered while buying napkins for a party and her mother seeks revenge?" Sometimes the misinformed will answer with Eye For An Eye, but there are way too many vengeful mother movies for it to be that easy. I'm doing Eye For an Eye next week!
Yes. It's a sad reality that women and girls can't be alone like that these days without fear of something happening. Even with others around, men and women are at risk. But being alone feels too risky.
@@thereellifewithjenniferwoods so true. I am going to a lecture in Pittsfield on June 17th. It is covering the latest book about the Lent family and a local historian. He's going to be discussing the case and thel predation in the Lent family over generations.
I was a big Nintendo fan. We used to rent the system at the video store. But I ended up getting a SEGA instead. I think the movie was also an ad for the Power Glove. But it bombed apparently. Seems it would be great for playing racing games. I don't think it would do well with the tricky maneuvers in every other video game out there. Have you seen 8-Bit Christmas? I watched that and read the book.
@@thereellifewithjenniferwoods NO but it sounds like I need to watch it!! Speaking of the power glove, Google what happened to the guy who played Lucas. 🤮
@JayHarangue Yeah, I read about that and almost mentioned it but didn't really wanna include it unless I could cite an official source and felt icky about looking up more info. It's awful what goes on with these actors. And everywhere. I see Luke Edwards was in one of the Jeepers Creepers movies. That director, Victor Salva, did something similar. To one of his child actors in the '80s. I recommend 8-Bit Christmas. A Christmas Story for '80s Nintendo kids but the timeline is a bit messed up. CPK dolls craze in the wrong year, for example. Still really good.
Omg! Thanks for showing me this Jennifer! You know that I adore cats!!! This came out amazing! The video really matches what the kitty is thinking also! Too ADORABLE!!💯😻
I just watched this today. It was pretty good. My all time favorite Nanny movies are The Perfect Nanny starring Tracey Nelson and Evil Nanny(2016) starring Lindsay Easton.
I highly recommend this guide to Lifetime and Made for TV Movies. It has been invaluable in helping me to find so many movies that I knew a few descriptive words about but just couldn’t remember the name of the movie. After reading this guide I have added so many movies to my watch list. Thank you Jennifer for writing this guide for us movie lovers ❤
An excellent comparison of the 2 versions of this story. I absolutely agree with you on Kellie Martin’s performance in the original- it was heartbreaking and she made you feel for her even though she wasn’t the victim by any means.
Lol. Maybe a burger and milkshake. I just don't hear about people drinking milk with everything like they used to what with all kinds of food restrictions, allergies and special diets.
