I just got mine today finally after a two month wait. I LOVE it. It sounds incredible and it is very responsive. I love dialing in the settings and then just using my volume knob to control my tones. It really responds well and you can break it up or keep it clean by just how hard of a touch you have. It is crisp and warm with great cleans and overdrives and rich lush string definition. Great sounding reverb and tremolo. I am glad I took a chance on it.
I have one of these. It's a tremendous guitar and covers anything that I need it to. Construction quality is top notch and plays so effortlessly. It allows me to use only one guitar for every gig I play. Sure, it's expensive, but worth it in the long run.
Very nice sounding axe 🪓. I must have one according to tone, would like to hear about how well they are put together being that they are made in Japan 🇯🇵 although what I’ve heard about Jap made guitar quality is a definite improvement compared to the sloppy American 🇺🇸 Gibson and fender, I’ve even heard the Mexican fenders are pure quality nowadays
I had an Alvarez acoustic back in the early 2000's. Sounded so nice....and felt so good to play! Regret selling it....but looking at getting another Alvarez! 🙂
With these guitars, some come with the Seymour Duncan while others have the Lollers. It seems that the ones with the antique varnish finish are usually paired up with the Lollars. These guitars are about $1000 more on the used market. Are they worth and extra $1000? I'm not sure but if you have a thought on that let me know.
On the first clips, and I know YT messes up audio to some extent, but both are getting the same YT treatment here; the S2 pickups seemed to have a bit more ‘meat’ - as if you were hitting a little harder too.
Hey Ethan, thanks for the video! Question for you? I’m just about to get the 10th anniversary S2 594, but with the American pick ups and electronics identical to the core. From your experience with the two guitars, do you think that would bring the guitars as much closer together for the Tone and also for the magic experience that you’re talking about, being inspired and playing more creatively, etc. I know it’s a combination of a lot of things but I think the electronics are probably the biggest difference minus weight or something. Thanks for your thoughts!
you need to delete this video due to its really bad recording (full power from mics cuts in at the last minute) guitar’s B string is 1/4 tone flat throughout sorry!
i tried this amp in a music store the clean channel was so touchy and loud i couldn't even use it. is this the way this amp is or was there something wrong with it great video
The S2 is an amazing guitar, I’ve got a thin line S2 and it’s fantastic. To me the S2 does more than a good enough job and all your really getting extra when you go core is the gorgeous looks which if you can afford the extra then fair play go core but the S2 still does all that’s needed.
Excellent review, could you do one on the single cuts? Do they make a single cut in that natural finish? like the Core you have ? I'm more of a single-cut player. Thanks again
I have purchased from Barnett Music Exchange via Reverb in the past. Highly recommend. Great customer service, communication and the packing/shipping is outstanding. Highly recommend!
