I've been wondering why Arabians aren't more popular as dressage horses, considering their natural agility, charisma, sensitivity, good uphill build with strong hindquarters, and exceptionally good neck, etc. Is it because of their size, or is it that they don't move the way warmbloods do?
I think a lot of it has to do with quality of gaits. The line I have produced for 40+ years is prepotent for this trait which has allowed them to excel in sport horse disciplines, especially dressage. Warmbloods have been developed over the years for quality and clarity of gaits. Most Arabian breeding and Arabian enthusiasts have neglected this base for dressage.
@@maryelainekerrigan 40 years of breeding for good gaits explains why I was so impressed. You're right that many Arabians don't have the kind of gaits you want in a dressage horse, so that's probably a big reason why. Another reason is that breed prejudice in general is far too common in the equestrian world. I've even seen some people online leave sniffy remarks about PREs, Lusitanos, and Friesians as dressage horses.
Such a gorgeous horse(who doesn'tdream of a beautiful black Arabian stallion?).A pleasure to watch, such an impressive record, too. But that he gives you joy is best of all
I love the proud tap on the neck after the diagonale with flying changes 1/1. KB Omega Fahim is my great inspiration and motivation for dressage work with my arabian. I saw this video for the first time 5 years ago, just before purchase of my own black shagya stallion aged 3 years at the moment. Today he s 8 and we are working on flying changes already and we start also piaffe learning. It wasn t easy, almost everyone tried to discourage me from dressage performance with arabian horse but with KB Omega Fahim on mind I was never severly touched by such tentatives - I knew it s possible. Thank you very much for this video.
I am so happy to hear that Omega was an inspiration. I am sure you will be as successful and be an inspiration to someone, too. I wish you great luck!!
For the past year or so, I've been riding saddleseat with Arabians. I didn't know they could do all the pirouettes and piaffes. I just started learning a little dressage from my instructor who did dressage for a while. I'm really enjoying it. I'm happy to see that Arabians do this.
How beautifully and sensitively ridden. Having always been a TB or Warmblood fan, I am now on a 15.1hh arab. Boy the conversations that go on under saddle and in-hand ! You can certainly see the lovely way the rider allows that sweet mouth his "conversation" but also asks again - OK now we have to move on again - next movement.... it is like a ballet of the contact - so visible. It reminds me of when I am working with mine - but of course not in any way with such finesse. If only ! Can see how his expressions with tail and mouth would be marked down when in fact it really is a true display of fine riding and acceptance in a very sensitive, intelligent and emotional animal ! Would love to be able to see it with a better quality film.
Admittedly I was part of the group that did not see Arabians in a good light!!! I did not think they had any business in the Sporthorse world. Man was I proven wrong!!!!! I started working at a big breeder in California. I was so amazed not just by the talent but by the intelligence and good nature. I see why some don't like them because you have to know how to communicate with them. I got along with them so well. I loved how sensitive they were. I know have two and plan for many in my future. I am obsessed with the breed now and hope to one day breed a few of my own. I'm waiting for some high quality mares to cross my path first 😝 This stallion is gorgeous!!!
Thank you, though I am so late in responding. I hope you have continued with your plans and have been successful. I very much understand the what you have discovered about Arabians.
Arabians are beautiful and have a bad press by ignorant people who don't have the brains to deal with them. I own one he's my second and other horses don't compare. This video just proves how versatile Arabs are, what a stunning example of the breed.
I thought I should add that daughter Jull is the reigning Grand Prix champion like her sire. She managed to keep the title going as national champion Prix St. Georges through Grand Prix. Nothing like it prior so I have to give credit to this guy!
What an honor to watch this video again! I have 3 KB Omega Fahim Get and here are the results: KB Jull Fahim+// Grand Prix with 3 FEI natiional wins and 5 years running straight of regional championships 3rd thru GP. KB Kalilia Fahim+++/ within a few points of the ultimate goal like sire to become KB Kalilia Fahim++++// Masters which is the highest recognition given by AHA! The best tribute has been given by my 9 mo old colt KB Tomega Fahim who managed to tie the highest inhand score for two regions this past month. I think this says volumes about this stallion!
I own KB Omega Fahim's++++// firstborn KB Jull Fahim +// who is also showing Grand Prix and is currently a 3 time national (SHN) FEI champion PSG thru I2. I think it says volumes about this stallion!!!.... and my mare is half Paint.....go figure. His offspring carries it on!!!
Thank you! You should see some of his other videos and there are also some with his "kids". "Meg" is now semi-retired and I have him at home where I ride him daily. He made it to Grand Prix and, now, he will help me get there too.
Like father like daughter! KB Omega Fahim++++// delivers!!!! Love this stallion ....love Kerrigan bloodstock. Overall I2 score at SHN 2012 was 65.263%.
Oh, THAT colt is KB Tarif Fahim and he is now in Germany at his new home to be a breeding stallion for them in the future. THIS colt is the other one that I had born last year. Just now getting him on the market. I have two MORE colts born this year, too! All of a sudden I have a bunch of colts!!
Thank you! This is an amazing young stallion. Only a year old in this video and he shows so much potential for dressage and endurance with his gaits and carriage.
Perhaps. It is a skip, with a dropped left hip (favouring the right hind), that is evident after each jump sequence. I think it is most noticeable when she is on the wrong lead, so it could be from you pulling her up after the jump to gait down and correct that. She moves lovely otherwise... Good luck with her...!
I think you are seeing the illusion of the white leg vs the darker leg. Also in videos one often sees little skips or delays in the video feed. I appreciate your concern. Rest assured, this lovely mare is sound and doing great.
What a wonderful stallion you have! He's beautiful, and athletic, and talented. So few breeders seem to remember the Arabian is a RIDING horse anymore.
Meg has been a dream come true. To produce a purebred Arabian that really can show respectable dressage has been a lifetime goal. The icing on the cake is that his foals are growing up to be just as talented and capable. His first foal is also now a Grand Prix Champion.
Wow ! I've said so often to people, someday, someone who is fascinated by the arabians like me will prove that an arabian thoroughbred CAN do WONDERFUL dressage! we just have to give them a chance. it is harder for arabians to get good grades than for any warmbloods.
