I remember when I first started watching the Avalanche, my first thoughts were how good Rantanen was. At the time I didn't know a lot about the team or players, but his skill was very obvious to me.
I like the term "violence" that was used to refer to MacKinnon's skating. As Avalanche fans, we also refer to "angry Nate". When he gets angry her channels that into his play style.
Saying it now, drai will have a career high season 24-25. Him having wingers now that can finish offensively will be dangerous. And that’s no disrespect to Foegs, McLeod, Holloway, Perry or Kane. But Arvidson & Skinner is going to be night and day difference.
70+ points incoming if he can get some more power play time. His confidence has gone through the roof and he plays such a calculated and responsible game. A lot of people overlook him because of a lack of absurd point production but a lot of players lack his all around game and brain at his age. Even if he peaks as a point per game player he’ll make up for it with locker room presence and a collaborative game that elevates the team as a whole. These are the players that win teams cups. I see a C on his chest in the next 3-4 years.
I am a middle age Swedish man who started to follow Dahlin in his draft year. Started to follow his career in Buffalo and became a Sabres fan. Never ever have i felt this strong aabout any Nhl Team and been following Nhl for 36 years. Feels like yesterday when Mats Sundin was drafted as first pick. Sry bad grammar and spelling. Go Sabres
Guy have to learn to catch him with the hip as he goes thru that outside lane against the boards...but its just so dang hard. But ive seen a few more guys figuring him out, baiting the outaide and timing the hit. Hip is far better than a body check in that situation, a good defender can cover more range that way and hit a guy that thinks he is past you.
Modern day Pavel Datsyuk. Really difficult to play against. Unselfish attitude, best possible captain. Still many years, maybe even a decade, to enjoy him stealing pucks.
This is a great video thanks for posting it. I think what sets Sidney Crosby apart from everyone else in modern hockey is his game isn't and has never been built on speed, strength or skill (even though he has all of those). The thing that separates him from Ovechkin, McDavid and all the other elite players in modern hockey is his whole game is built on fundamentals. He thinks the game at a high level and his body is always in the right place, especially his hands. He's the most skilled grinder ever and he's just so instinctual and poised. Definitely the best player of his generation. And I'm not just saying that because I'm from Pittsburgh and I'm a Penguins fan. When you look at the awards, stats and the consistency Crosby is one of the all time greats. And what's scary is he lost the two best years of his prime and still he's amassed over 1500 points and counting. And he's still at 35 going on 36 going strong. Just remarkable.
Player i've seen that was strongest with the puck is Jagr... Followed by Forsberg... They couldn't buck them... They both were truly one with the puck! Mario Lemieux is another one! Mario was the best one on one i have ever seen! Honorable mention to Crosby...
