I discovered Forbidden when Twisted into form came out. I went to a gig in riverside California at spankys Cafe & was sitting outside waiting to get in & I remember Russ & Craig walked by saying hi to my buddy & I asking if we needed tickets to get in. Friggin super cool to do so. I was personally looking more forward to seeing Sanctuary who were opening up for them but after seeing Forbidden live that night they kicked my ass & Russ just cranked it out. Still to this day one of the most memorable & favorite of the 335 paid concerts I've been too. Sanctuary has been from day one to be one of my top bands in my life at that time & from that night on Forbidden was right there next to them. Love you guys. In fact, I believe Forbidden (after seeing alll the big four bands live) are technically better. The chops the groove...just simply better. & I feel OVERKILL are better than the big four also imo. Prove me wrong. Lol I can't wait to see Forbidden live again with the new singer. Seen video of him singing my favorite songs & him hitting pertinent highs that makes THAT song. Sadly Russ just can't do that anymore & I hope & pray Russ doesn't go the way of Warrell Dane. I hope he gets himself well.
Just saw them in San Diego. They slayed, but it was too short. I was sad I only caught part of Street Tombs. I thought they were going on right before Necrot. They were very good as well. I didn't like BAT at all.
I wonder why this is not simply another Barren Earth album? I realise this stuff would be too extreme (in the sense of too experimental) for Amorphis, but why not BE? Also, would love Oli composing more for Amorphis.
He definitely should compose more themes for Amorphis, he has a more fresh and original vision of music, with all respect to Santeri and Esa, they are already repeating themselves
Ah hell yes remember meeting you at the Soulfly / kataklysm show at the Grammercy around 2019. Great to see you putting out quality content like this! Always enjoy seeing Peter’s interviews
Regarding the California song topic, as a Baja California (Mexican's border state with California, US) resident it was fun to listen to the phrase "California falls into the sea" because when growing up all children here are taught about the San Andreas fault and there's like an urban myth around it which says the peninsula is suddenly ―and I say it's a myth because it's definitely gonna happen but not all of a sudden― going to be torn away from the continent. Really enjoyable interview, thank you!!
Great interviewong! You kept him talking with good prompts and questions. Whole thing was really chill qnd he revealed some good insights about his process and personality. Love the story about someone asking for an autograph on a bootleg! 😂 See you at the forge when it's time for my next piece of armor.
Fantastic interview man Huge Deicide fan since the beginning Met Glen many years ago when I saw them in England Managed to see them last year in Glasgow 😉
