I collected antique British silver for several decades and was pleased in 2011 when silver went so high that good pieces were hammered down at bullion prices, which were much less than the earlier collector prices. I also sold a large amount of my more mundane pieces at considerable profit to the refiners. As for investment, I would say not so much currently as younger people aren't really interested.
