I'm reading the Mad Ship right now and thought you were gonna pick Amber when you held it up. Okay, so I'm not deep enough into the book yet to get her story so maybe she's not that great, but 300 pages in and I'm like, who IS she? How does she know Wizardwood? I mean I did know at one time because I've read them all before, but that was 2001 and my memory is shit. But Kennit? Yeah, he's certainly ... ... S P O I L E R S ... charmed Vivacia! And how about Wintrow? I can't wait to see him growing into a bad-ass like I feel he's going to. The way he held his nerve when he got his finger chopped off and then when he cut off Kennit's leg. The dude's got some inner strength like a cleric. There aren't enough clerics in high fantasy, or bards for that matter. I wasn't that into Starling in Assassin's Quest to be honest. And why is your channel not bigger. Your content is so good!
I can’t tell you why amber isn’t on the list without spoilers so when you get to the last trilogy you’ll know! And wintrow really grew on me. He’s up there as a fav I have so many that I couldn’t fit into one video ! But honestly even the characters I hate in ROTE I end up loving. Damnit Hobb 😂
Found the House Witch thanks to another video of yours and have to agree that the first book is super cozy. About to start the second book in a day or so.
Solid recs. You’re still my favourite BookTuber. I’m reading and loving Liveships right now. You asked for a recommendation - Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake. Starts with Titus Groan. Classic English Gothic fantasy. You’re welcome.
Why am I just now realizing that Jonathan Strange and Piranesi are written by the same author?! Oof, if an author tracked me down and asked why I didn't give their book a higher rating, I wouldn't read from them again. I feel like I see that behavior more often in the indie space (though I know trad pub authors have done it too) which sadly makes me more hesitant to read indie books. I read To Sleep in a Sea of Stars and dnf'd it with about an hour left in the audiobook. The story was very repetitive and the characters are pretty cardboard
Yeah indie authors don’t have others to tell them what isn’t author behaviour and when this happens I get so uncomfortable. And his books weren’t bad! Just not incredible
I loved Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. I heard about it on a podcast about Macs back when I cared about such things. The guy recommending it did so because of its length and he figured it was a good way to get good value out of Audible. I'd like to eyeball read it, especially if I had a copy like the one you have!
I also really want to read Hamnet! And also intimidated by Jonathan Strange. But there is this nice gentlemen in a hat somewhere online that really seems to like it😄
I havent been to a library in about a million years. I found bookstagram 4 years ago and now i am crumbling under the weight of my sprayed edged pretties 😍🤣
Ah the horses are gorgeous! You've read so many books in May 😲 I have Dance of Shadows on my tbr so I'm happy to see that you loved it! Well, now I need to read Dragons of Deepwood Fen so I can know when your favorite trope is!
