Wheels of Fire is all about Wheelchair Racing and Adaptive Sports Advocacy.
Watch for our monthly releases of new material.
Aerelle is a two time High School All-American wheelchair racer and Move United Elite Team member. Raymond is her coach and her dad. We started learning through RU-vid videos and other content online and figuring it out as we went along. Eventually, we got the opportunity to talk to other wheelchair racers and coaches. Now several years down the road, we want to pass on the information we wish had been on online when we got started.
I prefer kneeling position to sitting position.I hope you can upload the video which are different angle transferring methods for kneeling racing wheelchairs, such as from the side and from the back for paraplegia T53 class. Waiting for your new transferring video!
There are different types of presta adapters. There are pump adapters and tire adapters. Mine is on the pump but there is another type that goes on the valve so that a regular air pump can attach to it
What she doesn’t tell you is that, unlike unconventional things Presta valves work in reverse- when you push the pump on - the catch is down and raised to lock in - the female pump valve also squeezes past the male to let the air in 😊
It's great see my work with the development of the Harness Glove and the Hand Forms at the University of Illinois are still in use. Great job with this basic look at the racing stroke.
I would like to know how different classification athletes transfer skills. For example T51/T52/T53/T54 .I hope that a new video can be showed all-class in and out.And I would rather see paraplegia than amputation because paraplegic athlete‘s transferring is harder.
Hello mam! Thankyou😊! But mam in some videos its shown to remive the nozzle of tyre hole! And in some its shown to not remove just put the pump on it!!??? So what to do!? Is both the ways fine? Or any diff? What should do for leader gear cycle tyre!?🤔PLZZZ ANSWER!!!!
I almost broke mine..I couldn't figure out how to pump it..the pump wouldn't pump and I start jamming it. Didn't realize you had to listen the stupid tube. When I finally googled it, the stupid thing was slightly bent.
Was watching another video, and it referred to these valves. So I watched this video to become familiar with them. What is the purpose? What do these valves bring to the party that wasn't already there? It seems like the air valve version of the torx screwdriver.
A standard valve like in a car tire is too wide to mount well to a narrow, light-weight, high-end bicycle tire / tube. In addition if you made a hole in the rim of a high-end bicycle that was large enough for a standard tire valve, there would be very little metal left around the hole on a bicycle rim. The Presta valve is designed for the lightweight, high-end bicycle wheels that are used on racing wheelchairs.
brilliant, may I ask what electric pump you are using here? Also, when Im done inflating it leaks so much air in the few seconds where I try to tie the valve back. Tips?
Great video! Got one question: On my racing wheelchair, the top steering is very very tight and hard to move. Is there anything that can loose it up a bit?
So basically, no way without an adapter... Dumb. Why are these valves so popular all the sudden!? When did the old ones suddenly stop working perfectly fine?? *ps where my McGiver Fam at that can explain getting in air WITHOUT an adapter? Saw a comment about a ball point pen... (Adapter is NOT an option right meow) Thank you
When you make a tire that is very narrow, a common Schrader valve just won't work. It's too wide. I guess some French "MacGyver" engineer really wanted a skinn tire. Thus the presta valve was born.
That is a good question! I always use the brand I do because I like the grip the tread on the tire gives me. Every athlete has his or her preference. If you find a better alternative, let me know!
