Karlyn Holman was an internationally recognized artist, author, and watercolor instructor. She owned and operated Karlyn's Gallery in Washburn, Wisconsin for over 50 years. A true inspiration to many, she sadly passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
Karlyn's Gallery has changed hands and is now called Ghost Ship Gallery. This video collection is made available for free by Ghost Ship Gallery as a gift to Karlyn's legacy. It is our hope that future generations will continue to learn from and be inspired. Due to the high volume of traffic and our small staff, this page is not actively monitored and we're unable to respond to comments. Thanks for watching, and enjoy painting with the amazing Karlyn Holman!
You're brilliant I can't believe you haven't gone viral I've been painting for 30 years and nobody's ever showed me how to tear a piece of paper before thank you
I can’t seem to get enough of Karlyn’s brilliant teaching. I know if she was still with us she would be bringing more fresh ideas for us to try. Miss her😂. Thank you for your gift of publishing these videos for our enjoyment!
This is an amazing video. I mean amazing in the literal sense. Karyn explained her thought process as she planned and painted the "lost edges". I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now. Thank you Karlyn, from the bottom of my heart--wherever you are in the universe <3 You have definitely helped make the world more beautiful. Not only with your art, but the art that is still being inspired by your legacy!
I thought your tutorial was the best available. Thank you for that. My one question, perhaps I missed it, is with the black lines being permanent & waterproof, I assume they are seen in the final painting?
Thank you so much for sharing her legacy on art, I recently got into her tutorials and I just love it! by any chance somebody knows the branch of the stencils? thanks
Thank you for sharing this workshop from Karlyn's collection! Her work has made an impact on many people from all over the world 💖 This video inspired me to change my own mixed media process, and I enjoy it so much more now. I used to sketch very lightly, and had to keep my watercolor application tight and precise to ensure my portrait doesn't look wonky. Seeing how Tonya goes from a sketchy gesture, to a refined underdrawing and then applies watercolor on top of it in such a free and expressive way helped me realize that this approach is much better for me.
I painted a giraffe from the neck up and left the background white. Where would you recommend I put my signature. Would you camouflage it in the neck shadows bottom right?
Thank you so much for this demonstration! I loved your talking points and suggestions all through the video, explaining the why’s! Do you have any instruction for plain watercolour on regular WC paper?
I started watching Karlyn's videos recently and I love her attitude and ability to master so many styles. I was deeply saddened when i saw that she passed away in 2019, RIP. Your life lives on in inspiring others through your videos and books. ❤
I liked the end product very much BUT you did not let us see your inspiration DURING the painting process so it was hard to know where you headed or why..Maybe next time.
My god she's good. I remember her from years and years ago. From when RU-vid used to be about education instead of infomercials. She is sorely missed. Blessings to who re-uploaded these. Blessings indeed. They are keeping her alive forever.
