The Defeat Diabetes Low Carb Program is Australia's first evidence-based, doctor-led program that can help put pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes into remission.

Created by Dr Peter Brukner OAM with a team of doctors and dietitians (including Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Mason and Defeat Diabetes dietitian Nicole Moore), the Defeat Diabetes Low Carb Program can help you manage your blood glucose levels, lose weight and achieve remission.

BIG NEWS! We’re stoked to announce a new partnership with Diabetes Australia to offer hope to people living with or at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Together, we aim to reach the 1.3 million Australians diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with a message of hope for remission through our proven low carb program.

It is so nice to hear that my sugar addiction is actually being CAUSEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD by something and not just ME because growing up (40 yrs ago) I didn't have a sugar addiction and I was perfectly thin 5'7 120. The last 20 years my weight has slowly creeped up, now at 56 I'm considered obese 5'7 222 and just got t2d 6 months ago and it is coming on like gangbusters and tanking my body, I'm strugging daily with severe dehydration, absolutely no thirst, ZERO ENERGY AND I MEAN ZERO, pins and needle feet, aching joints, racing heart after eating and this all came on what feels like overnight. I'd like Dr. Shanahan to discuss another concept I heard which is the fats are what cause insulin resistance and that when you add carbs they tip you over into diabetes. Thank you.

I’m angry that my country 🇨🇦 is continuing to lie to us - how do they expect respect and trust when doctors don’t even allow any ‘double blind’ research into patient options for treatment…

At Defeat Diabetes we recommend following a program that's low in carbs (10% total calories) and higher in protein (30% total calories) and healthy fats like butter and ghee (60% of total calories). That's because evidence shows that limiting our carbohydrate intake improves insulin resistance and blood glucose, and reduces inflammation. @defeatdiabetes
@defeatdiabetes Месяц назад
Hi Evan, at Defeat Diabetes Low Carb Program we recommend limiting carbs to 50g a day to help manage your blood glucose and eliminate medication. Whether they be simple or complex carbs, all carbs are metabolised into sugar in your bloodstream eventually. That's why we don't recommend following low GI if you're trying to improve your blood glucose levels. More on this here --> www.defeatdiabetes.com.au/resources/low-carb/the-essential-guide-to-low-carb-vs-low-gi/

@@defeatdiabetes Thanks. I tend to low carb due to Roy Taylor - I found his book after I was diagnosed with type-2 four years ago (I ignored the idea of meal replacement shakes, seems like a dopey idea). So I started doing a walk each day, eliminating junk food and the four whites mostly, and this has mostly worked. Blood sugar back close to normal for the last three years or so. I put on a little weight and am having trouble losing it - it seems (current theory) to be due to too much cheese (I seem to start losing a little when I eat less cheese, not less fruit - apples and mandarins). I do eat nuts, almonds and cashews, which may not help.

I buy the discounted short-dated meat and freeze it or slow cook the cheaper cuts. Fatty mince is cheaper because everyone else thinks it's unhealthy.😉 Frozen mixed berries are much cheaper than the fresh ones. Many supermarkets also sell the 'ugly' fruit and veg such as avocados, carrots and lemons in small bags. Watch for nuts like macadamias to go on special and buy a couple of packets. Companies like 'Nuts About Life' sell almond flour in bulk. Look in the discounted dairy section for cheaper cheese and Greek yoghurt. These are just a few ways. I view buying healthy food as an investment in my health - much better than the cost of medications or hospital visits later on!

The carnivores will be the only ones left. Zombie-Cannibalism will have run rampant throughout the general population but most will die due to the poor quality meat that humans will have become. This will be especially true of trying to eat vegans and vegetarians. Lack of quality fats will cause rabbit starvation from eating them.

Dr Unwin I was diagnosed type 2. 2021 All I have learnt is what I was taught in the 1960s for type1, low carb, we didn't have type 2, it was a rare old age problem, and everything else is off the internet. I asked the diabetic nurse for a glucose monitor, she said the doctors don't believe in giving glucose monitors for type 2. Later I saw one of the doctors for a steroid💉 , after, I asked for a glucose monitor machine, saying NICE says we are to have them plus sticks and lancets. I was greeted with. 'WE DOCTORS DO NOT AGREE WITH NICE. WE DO NOT BELIEVE TYPE 2 SHOULD HAVE MONITORING'. Capitals were his attitude. I have NEVER been seen by a doctor regarding my Type 2. I can't talk about about my health to anyone. The Sick (Health) Authority where I live will not pay for me to join your internet programme. The people where I live in the Midlands have a very raw deal from our Sick (Health) Authority and our GPs As a pensioner it is bad I have to buy my own equipment and it's gonna get worse with Starmmer after us.

Muscle is a great soaker-upper of glucose - build it and then preserve it with maintenance. Even at rest - the muscle is actively soaking up glucose. In 2023 went onto Ketovore/carnivore not eating carbs every day. The way to avoid the the squirts is to go onto a ketovore/carnivore slowly.
