In 1970 I bought a red ‘65 Monza 110 coup. Black buckets. 4speed. Street raced it through Prospect park in Brooklyn if anyone is familiar with that. It’s like a road racing course. Lots of turns, hills etc. Spun it out a few times so wound up putting larger tires on the rear. Forgot what size. But made a big difference. Handled real nice. Fun first car.
Sister had a 1960 four door...pretty poor example...even for then. She got rid of it and bought a new 69 Datsun 510. 4 speed on floor...a fun car. In High School, a fella' had a 140 hp 4 carb coupe, great auto crosser ....THAT car was cool. Thanks for memories.
I’m sure I missed this. What year models were your trucks? On know the 8.1 was an 02. I bought a duramax last Friday and snapped the crank first thing. I have an 06 8.1. Did you have to change the tac module?
I dont ask for much, give me a 4 door hardtop with an automatic, and ill be happy. Ps: with all the fan belt issues, nobody thought of an electric or direct drive fan??? Rear swaybar only in 69 for the end.... i mean, did they intentionally sabotage this project like macnamara with the edsel?
Damn you went thru it with that i don't believe just fibers from shop towels left all that behind then breaking that ring oh joy it was just over the top ridiculous and then everything else geez Murphy's law or bad karma or something has got you in their sights for real
Lookn at a 65 CORVAIR says its the Original ENG 4 single carbs and that it's a 200hp eng rating. It's a Canadian car. The DASH Cluster is BAsic without the extra gauges and automatic trans... So not a 4sp what's the actual factory spec on this #s matching quad single "boxer" 2 DOOR Coupe'
Hello. I have 2003 Silverado 1500 hd and I can’t find another 03-06 truck with bad engine trans. My truck is crashed so I want to swap all over to a 2500 hd duramax is it possible? I can’t find a gas truck that’s why
I'm rebuilding my 02 LQ4 right now. Mine locked up at 275k cause the doorman oil cooler lines I put on a month prior failed at the worst possible time. 4/8 rod bearings spun and welded to the crank but the mains managed to escape unscathed. Got a 4 inch stroke forged crank to go in there with forged rods and pistons. Sure it might of been a little cheaper to buy a used one but I like the route of having a fresh rebuilt engine thats a 408 stroker
good video, i'm inspired to tear mine apart..then i think 2 self, no , it works, don't do it, leave it till it starts to make noise. engine almost together, having issues with the bigger oil pump gears.. do you have any vids on that area? also i noticed the suspension [clarks improvement on geometry] your strut rod is on the upper hole, the one i got has only a lower hole. how is your handling? have you tried to put strut rod on the lower hole in the rear end brace?
67 impalas are expensive to build ive had 6 of them in my life currently i have 2 of them i drove a 4 dr sedan "post" car every day for 12 years as a daily driver after putting a ton of money in it all the welding disc brakes modifying all the suspension over to rack n pinion steering tubular control arms i did so much work to make it drive n handle like a newer car and one day not to long ago i was on the beltway leaveing work one day and some guy on a cellphone didnt look n switched lanes into my lane wen i was going 60 mph he was about to slam into the side of my dr side fender so i slammed the brakes yanked the wheel so he wouldnt run into my front dr side fender it was wet out and i slid into a concrete wall totalled it i just finished all the welding on my 69 c10 and now im starting the work on the second one i have it literally looks just like the one u got its black 4 dr hardtop but unfortunately a tree branch fell on it during a storm and smashed the hood down windshield in smashed the upper cowl and dash down it was a huge tree branch so im gonna salvage everything from the sedan i wrecked the upper cowl ect alot of welding the thing that made me mad the most is i smashed up the front corner light on my sedan but my black one has a set on it and i have a spare set i have 3 sets n if u know these cars like i do the front corner light "housings" are hard to find and so are the bumper guards but ive been working on 67 impalas for a long time so i have acquired alot of parts for them.🇺🇲
All good stuff respect 🫡 at least you learn something about ls engines and everything looks good this time around that engine should be bulletproof when your done now hopefully 🤞
Much respect to you for showing your mistakes so others can learn from them. It takes a real Man to lay his struggles out RU-vid for all see and critique. As someone who's engine builds never go right first try either.. it's reassuring to see im not alone. Awesome video. 🍻
Would be nice to see a comparison on what you spent with all your mistakes versus having the motor done by a professional. The peace of mind IMHO is priceless.
So I stumbled upon this video by chance, but I figured you’d like to know that’s my old truck! If I remember correctly I was out of town when you came in to buy it, so you met up with either my brother or dad to buy it. Good to see there’s still life left in it! I recognized it by the bumper, and dent in the hood.
Can you give an update? Hopefully still going strong. I have a 2003 LQ9 I’m doing the same thing as you, but hopefully not the hard lessons you learned. My luck, I’ll be right there with you. 😂
If there is an oil cooler it could have some Contamination in it. Also, some of that debris could be holding open the bypass valve in the oil pump. And oil PAN.
