With change occurring at an exponential rate, I'm not sure that this video would still be considered reflective of the modern world. Therein lies the real beauty of mechanical typewriters. They will continue to do what they were designed to do regardless of where you might choose to use them for well into the future (with little maintenance required). While they can be used in conjunction with modern devices, for many, typewriters remain more satisfying to use while producing more meaningful output.
Correction film and correction fluid allow you to cover up your mistakes for retyping. The other option is to simply ignore the mistakes, or "X them out" and then move on with the writing. Either way, the result reflects the fact that we as humans are not perfect (far from it in many cases). I swapped a few letters with a celebrity who is a major typewriter collector and this was exactly his approach. It was actually very endearing as my wife and son pointed out.
Very nice. Impressive collection. Even the music is almost appropriate. But your delivery is deadpan, and it seems this is more a business venture than something you do for fun. Where's the love, man?!! Don't you have any machines you wouldn't sell at any price? I have at least three or four.
I learned how to type on a typewriter in school. We had computers but the teacher thought it was a better idea (she was right) to have us learn on a typewriter.
The power of the typewriter is in the ability to create a original document which is hard to duplicate or make changes to unlike a computer print out. This is has legal value even today.
Your collection is really cool. I'd love to buy myself a typewriter but I don't think I have it in me to really take care of it. Also it's not like I can just take it to the corner to get it fixed if there are any issues. I definitely hope typewriters make a comeback.
