My first leather project was 7 pairs of Mexican Bandolier Bullet Belt for my immediate family. After each pair made I learned something to improve the next pair. Tried to sign up for one of your classes at the Prescott Leather show but it was already full. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the tips in the videos you post.
I have started into leathercraft for 6 months only and each video I see makes me wanna try it. The details just draw me even further to it. It is mesmerizing. I FUCKING LOVE IT!
Daniel, I am a knife maker and also make leather sheaths for my knives. I am always looking for ways to improve my leatherwork and that is how I found your videos. The first one I watched was the wolf challenge and wow, I was blown away. I decided right then that I wanted to learn how to carve leather and so I purchased from Weaver leather everything that you used in the video. I am about to start the wolf, but I have a question? When you case your leather and start you project, if it takes multiple days to complete do you rewet the project everytime your going to work on it and if so, in what manner do you do so?? I love your videos and your talent, I will be watching and learning as long as you continue making them!!
OLD Leather Smith here, very nice Daniel. I did a butterfly on a purse 4 a client. I 3d carved it out of 5/6 oz. Which is what the body of the purse is, instead of white spots I used Christal rivets and of course used a leather liner, 2 keep the wings from collapsing I back my 3d carvings with the holes and slots I cut out of other projects such as belts. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️🥎🙃
Beautiful work and a very inspiring video. I highly recommend Daniel's RU-vid channel, The Leatherverse if you want to learn some next-level techniques. Daniel, could you identify that large, flat backgrounding tool you were using around the border of the piece, at about 20:30? I need one like that, does Weaver sell it?
Natural Veg Tan is the best option for dyeing but if you want to dye an already colored veg tan, just make sure to use a deglazer first and then you can dye it a darker color but unfortunately you can't go lighter. Hope that helps!
Ya know ,in watching you do that protrite .makes wonder how much more that could have been added to my flames ,that i didnt know could be done.umm that make any sense ? lol
Daniel your work is so beyond amazing. The airbrush skill alone is crazy good. Love your work love your videos. I’ll be at the IFOLG in St Louis this year. Hope to take a class if you’re there.
Daniel, you never cease to amaze me with your art on and in leather. Absolutely amazing! Your characters look so real, like they are going to jump off the page. The old man’s eyes, look like they are saying, “what are you looking at?” Best regards Richard
Hi Mica, I have one class on my website rignt now, with more coming soon. I also teach at the various leather shows around the nation as well as guilds that invite me to teach. :)
Just curious, but can you enter something like a set of armor at competitions? I've recently taken up making leather armor and love not only the process and results, but the possibilities of what can be done with design and artistry. Also, thank you for the tips because they are definitely going to be very helpful in many projects going forward.
