I am beginning to prefer the show over the books. The show made the characters more complex and human. Sure, the protagonists, like Rand, seem badass in the early stages of the books, but the show properly portrayed them as normal young people who are afraid of their destiny. I guess Season 3 will explore them all accepting who they are supposed to be. House of the Dragon may seem cool but its potential was hindered by the reliance on time skips which hindered us from seeing the characters' progressions. When it came to Ishamael and Lanfear's portrayal, I really loved how there is a subtle inner conflict in them to hurt Rand because they really seemed to care and miss their best friend: Lews Therin Telamon.
Big battle wasn't the issue. It's poorly written and directed by alphabet women with zero imagination. They deliberately made the fan favorite boring after admitting they didn't know why people liked him. There was no one to root for. No one you hated. Not plots. No twists. Other than one episode where another fan favorite dies it was the same people talking to the same people in the same castle. They had 20mil an episode btw
I think you guys seem to be trolling just for the clickbait, there is ALWAYS setup in every season finale of GOT and now HOTD, some are acting as if this was the series finale… of course it was all set up for the coming seasons smh
The reason season 2 is boring is because Miguel Sapochnik left after season 1 and the season 2 writers and directors lack the imagination needed for the ASOIAF story
This session was terrible, especially this season finale. It was the furthest thing from book Cannon, they could have made. It’s likely worse than the last few seasons of GoT because HoD they had a clear road map and they still fumbled. Allison is the worst written character (makes the decision to start the war and then is completely politically useless). We got more dramatic looking faces and useless conversations than story progression.
Blows my mind when people say this. Game of thrones was based off of over 4,000 pages. House of the dragon has less than 300 pages to go off of. And they definitely departed from book cannon significantly leas than game of thrones. Also everyone saying alicent is so terrible and different from the books really seems to be missing the point. I am not saying this season was perfect, there was quite a bit of disappointment in season 2, but alicent was not one of them. She has much more depth than she ever did in the book, and I even think it's realistic that when she realized she misinterpreted viserys words she'd start to realize the mistakes she made. She was always teetering between what she thought her duty was and what she really believed. Her sons did terrible things. Aegon beat a man to death and hung 100 innocent men and let their bodies decay for the city to see and aemond attempted regicide, and burned a town to the ground cause he was mad. My only issue with her betrayal was that she didn't ask for daeron and heleana to be spared since they played no real part in the war. Obviously heleana was implied but she could have said something about daeron. Alicent being "politically useless" is literally the point. It's the entire point. She has thus far been a woman supporting the patriarchy and in doing so she loses all of her power. Alicent is a pretty accurate representation of a woman trying to gain and maintain power in this extremely patriarchal world. And as a reminder she may have participated in the usurpation of the throne but they had all been planning it behind her back and she likely wouldn't have been able to do it without their support, nor would she have been able to stop them had she decided to support her husband's choice of heir.
HBO as a studio was. There’s a chance they were told to shorten the season due to studio wide revenue loss due to the strike. But that’s just speculation on my part
I liked the intricacy. While they definitely milked it for the whole season, its because they want all ONE big battle instead of giving us a few here and there. Pretty poor writing if you ask me
Unfortunately because of the lack of length and volume in Fire and Blood, there's going to be points that this is going to happen in order to get them to four seasons or whatever it is they're going for. Because in all reality with what the books give them they could do it in two.
So sad to see what she has done with her appearance. She was stunning. She has turned into a wax doll and even her voice sounds muffled. I hate Hollywood
It's on HBO execs for not giving them the budget to finish the season GRRM himself said that they would need 4 seasons of 10 eps each to tell the story. Probably was scheduled for battle of the gullet EP. 9 and then fall of Kingslanding for EP 10. But oh well.
Alicent and Rhaenyra scene is the worst aspect of the season. This woman stood in front of her son to potentially take dragon fire. This mother would never sacrifice her kids! She is as horrible as Stannis now.
this season really suffers from the cut from 10 to 8 eps. if they had 2 more eps, they couldve done the battle of the gullet, then the fall of kings landing in s3
i don’t think the show is bad, but the history line they have should been infinitely better show. it is very slow, not that I want it to be rushed, but too much time is waste in HoD first two seasons.
They needed time apart to grow and test their relationship. Daemons side quest won him over to unconditionally support Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra did her best without him, which she needed, and found other support - figured out tactics to gain more power against the greens. Seeing them back together again is refreshing now!
Totally agree good episode terrible Finale. I was also shouting No at the TV. 2 years who knows how we will all feel about waiting and having the same thing all over again.
Dear HOTD Producers… You messed up. I was so excited Season 1 and endured through Season 2, but that ending made me not care if you ever make a season 3. You created great dragons, but we waited to see them fighting. Instead we got to see two wimpy women who could not make a decision. The star male characters did not carry through with anything, either.
I feel as though otto is either in the black cells or is imprisoned by his son or kinsman, leana copped a dragon is what i got from that , im pretty sure the armies in the riverlands are bound to meet the ships are gonna try and break the the blacks blockade
Cry about it some more. This season showed PLENTY. I’ll start: Battle of Rooks Rest where Melys and Sunfyre both fucking die in an epic battle that was extended from the book, the Red Sowing that showed how badass Hugh is and how dangerous Vermithor is; also Ulf stumbling across Silverwing basically accidentally, Alyn being claimed by Seasmoke after Steffon Darklyn was unsuccessful, the amazing brother-on-brother duel between Ser Erryk and Ser Arryk, Oskar Tully stealing the show with his proof of leadership by putting Daemon in his place and keeping his vassals in check, Daemon’s arc of becoming a loyalist again after his failures at diplomacy that still managed to work out, Blood & Cheese literally cutting off the head of Helenea’s son in front of her eyes, Aemond’s transformation from dutiful to just straight up villainous, the politicking and scheming of Larys, Otto, Alicient, and Cole, Jace becoming worthy of his succession and proving himself a dutiful heir to the Iron Throne by convincing the Frey’s to allow the Starks to cross. All while the season had beautiful set pieces, character development, amazing dialogue, a touch of humor in the appropriate places. And the finale has setup season 3 BEAUTIFULLY for it to be epic as fuck. Because, guess what for all you bitching about the deviations from the “source material”, most of the events in the book are like 2-3 lines long. And that’s it. Season 1 was 9/10. Season 2 was 7.5/10. Y’all just can’t handle having to wait another year-&-a-half which just goes to show how much you WANT to continue watching. And guess what? You will because it did a fantastic job of setting it up.
Guys if your not impatient asf and realise that there are two more seasons they are doing this drawn out stuff because the sktry and battles need context and good character buildings and arcs its nkt just action action action all the time, btw i say this but daemons dreams were shit

This season really irritated me. Then even more insulting when you show the aftermath of the battle 3 times instead of showing the actual battle. Real lazy writing, then we gotta wait 2 more years for the hope that is better.
