I grew up on a farm, but work a pencil pushing job now. Used to laugh at the idea pf working too hard in the heat. The other day it was 99 at 98% humidity. I had been hyrdating since a few days prior, even still, 30 minutes on, then a cool down. Shit was brutal.
Absolutely. I have water, cooler, and electrolytes on hand every day and make my guys take breaks. Heat stress ain’t shit to play with especially on these big industrial sites. Helps that I’m on the ground busting ass too
Was wondering type of business your in. Learned to drive truck in an old b model mack. Drove truck my whole life and at 65 had to have surgery on leg and shoulder. At 70 still want to get back n a truck or on heavy equipment. That's the only thing that makes me happg.
S’why we started in the quarry pits 6 am from mid June until end of August, that sun coupled with the dry white limestone reflecting it back at you, you don’t wanna be outside long past noon. Had to wear long sleeves as well, cuz that heat will just melt and sweat off any sunblock
Absolutely! A heatstroke can fuck you up for life. Some bounce back some don't. You can go from handling 110° like nothing to 75° felling like 110° for the rest of your life
Well, I'll tell you what. I'm in food safety, I manage my team and give them the tools and mentorship they need. I will take a day when needed for my family and then be back to mentor my team again. I expect my team to do the same. That's why I can take day off once in awhile.
Family needs to love the dirt industry, and they'll understand and join in. Work ain't work when you love what you do and the people you do it with. No separation combine the two.
Prioritize communication with family over as much as possible. Allow family to understand that the career/business allows the means for basic essentials/security as well as the means for experiences/trips. Never hold your career/business against them but really have them understand it’s absolutely necessary.
So u pay your guys a premium and u need to be there to make sure they clean there mess, which I'm sure part of there job description...Fire, hire responsible employees....got u back, not what u paying for
@@justinwebber2887 I crack whip 7am to 6pm six days a week. No paid holidays, no paid vacations for my guys. I pay for labor done right. My guys know I demand a clean shop. I've only fired one guy in 15 years.
