I am fascinated by owls.Great Horned, Long Eared, Snowy and my favorite Great Gray Owls. Most of my videos are to support owl research involving nesting behaviors and conservation of habitat for the owls so they will be seasonal based on the owl species from Dec to June of each year. Thanks for watching and feel free to comment.
Tryna see if the creepy sound i heard outside was a person or a real owl 😭😭 It sounded like a creepy woman making this exact hoot but I hope it was just an owl it lowkey sounded demonic
they did not return. Locals reported that they actually moved out into the forest area near the facility the following nest season. It was the first time that any researchers had documented a dual mom nest so it was exciting to see. Thank you for the comment.
it would be normal during nesting and occasionally off season if trying to locate partner. Mom will call out to dad for food or assistance with predators if needed . thanks for the question and for watching!
This is an osprey nest that are away for the winter and they would love to use it. Owls don't build nests they use abandoned nests from other birds. So they were "shopping" around for a nest to use LOL
@@MairzedotesHoots the female is also typically larger than the male, just as it is in all raptor-like birds, though that's only really useful information if you have a male and a female right next to each other heh
I was walking back to bed and suddenly heard this same, beautiful hooting ❤ I hear the lower pitch call (male?), a higher pitch call (female?) and one or two further calls which are possibly juveniles. I'm so glad they're here, I hope their presence will help limit the pigeon and raccoon activity on our farm.
loving you recognized their hoots. they should definitely discourage the pigeons to lay and hatch and will keep raccoons on their toes since they have young to protect! thanks for the comment.
I love great horned owls they visit every night and even in the daytime once. I had 10 of them visit on one evening at like 2am. They are majestic and wise. Incredible they truly are. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I just heard like 4 of them just now. I wonder what they are saying. I hoot back at them. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
I asked them if they found a tasty mouse to eat, and they answered who who who. They are my favorite. Actually I love all wildlife. They are very smart. I cherish all animals in the animal kingdom. ❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖💖💖😍😍😍😍👍👍👍
I had the privilege of rescuing a Great Horned Owl that was hit on the highway. Thankfully it was just dazed. I nearly ran it over but noticed so I pulled over and picked it up and brought it back to the side of the road. I checked it's wings and legs for any breaks. Thankfully, it was totally fine. I sat there holding it and petting it for the next 20 minutes or so as it slowly became more aware. I placed it on the ground where it just stood next to me as it let me pet it for another few min before an empty grocery bag blew across the road which startled us both. That's when it decided to fly away. I'm certain it was the same owl that sat there watching me work nearby the night before. I'm just surprised how receptive and docile this owl was... and super soft! I treat the sewers for roaches in Tucson, AZ. I love this job. I interact with wildlife quite often which gives me my fix, I grew up on a rescue ranch as a kid.
I live in and grew up in San Clemente CA. It’s a bird sanctuary here. The crows are a bit aggressive!! I played red hawk sounds they were curious and quiet but when I played these…the whole family/friends? 4 left the nest outside my bedroom.
wow that's so interesting and how wonderful that you have the sanctuary to observe so many species! owls will prey on young birds if voles/mice etc aren't plentiful so i wonder if that's why they left? thanks for the info i love reading other's experiences with owls.
Heard one of these outside my window just moments ago, had to look up owl calls to confirm because we almost never get any here. It only called once, I think I scared it off when I went outside to try and catch a glimpse, but I'm hoping it will come back soon so I can hear it again.
Not sure what kind of owl, but there was one in the tree next to my house(in central Iowa) one night that when it hooted, the boards on my back deck would vibrate. I hear barred owls all the time but this owl must have been huge!
barred owls and great horn are both bigger than you think. they stand 1-2 ft tall and the call is one that echos as they try to locate each other up to a mile or so LOL.
it was actually on the ledge of a professional building so office workers were the first to notice them. for privacy reasons sound was not allowed to protect the employees but it was a fascinating event!
Eeep!🐥Eeep!🐣Eeep!🐥Eeep!🐣❤ I came here cause I’m hearing GHO calls literally from the tree behind my house! So close & so loud by two🦉🦉💕 I played this to mess with them a bit hehe😁 ugh until my mom opened our LOUD gate for the dog & scared them away😢 now they’re very faint sounding & far away sounding.
I frequently have Eastern screech owls in my yard, but never this guy. I live in the middle of a big city and he was in my treetop hooting and squawking. Thanks for posting!
Don't you love hearing a Great Horned Owl ?!! I have one I hear often in the wooded area behind my house. Its usually around 10pm and when I hear it (sometimes close, sometimes farther away) but I sit quietly and listen. I love it!!
