Wildcat painted with D-Day invasion stripes! US Navy men wondering why. The US was lucky that this was around in 1942 or they would have been toast in the Brewster Buffalo. These never saw ground duty in Europe. Evolved into the bigger and prettier Zero-killer Hellcat.
The Fokker D.VII has to easily be one of the best fighters of WW1. Such a mean looking machine. James Holland does get everywhere, doesn't he?! What is an S.E.6?!?

The Blenheim is a classic example of how rapid aircraft development was at the time. Introduced as a fast light bomber, it was a monoplane with an enclosed cockpit and retractable undercarriage, supposedly too quick for the fighters of the time. Just a few years later it was hopelessly outclassed and easy prey for German fighters.
