I personally think there must be plenty of new rhymes to choose from, and many of the old ones are not worth changing in order to simply hang on to, just leave them in the past.
I was born in Holland and raised in New Zealand, so am in part, familiar with both Dutch and English nursery rhymes. When teaching our own kids I chose to avoid the controversial rhymes, but at a later date, I did discuss what I understood at the time with the kids about the rhymes.
Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo needs to just go away in the same way that they have renamed one of Agatha Christy's novels, from "10 Little Indians" to "Then There Were None". Just because something is traditional or old doesn't mean we need to keep it if it is no longer relevant. Worse yet if it is insulting to children in one's story time.
I've just watched all your videos and subscribed..nicely done, Mary. I'll go through the Danish Rhymes, too, and make some further comments as I consider your new project goals. Be well. Bill👍
Thank you so much for checking out our book and for the thoughtful review. We appreciate your highlighting all the details and ways folks can use this whimsical story. :)
Thank you for telling folks about our ballet book. We can relate to Danika wanting to "breathe dance into everything she does." Dance brings us so much joy and we are happy to share it with kids and families. We appreciate you, Ms. Mary! ❤
Love all the detail information in this video and love how you describe our 'Easter eggs" and the little girl's imagination. Thank you for checking out our stories and sharing Eka here. We are so grateful for any help getting the word out about our beautiful stories.
We love this story for its important self-acceptance messages. Thank you for telling folks about it. Grateful to collaborator Christine and Scott for the gorgeous images.
Many thanks for your review, I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. I am delighted to team up with Jolly Fish to bring this title to the States. Best wishes from Yorkshire, Gill McLean
Thank you Mary for your thorough review! You really captured the intent of my book - to share the joy and love of being a Hu-Mom to pets like Zeffy, knowing that it’s all worth it despite the ‘bumps’ along the way! And I hope children can relate to his feelings and experiences as they grow with Zeffy! ❤️🐾
