We are Mel & Dru, both in our 40's and live in South Yorkshire (You will tell by the accents that were not from there)
Our aim is to be informative, helpful and bring you on our adventures (good and bad).
We have a Dethleffs motorhome that we share with our two Cocker Spaniels Stella and Bob. the motorhome has many modifications that can be found on our channel. If you like adventure then this is a channel for you, we snowboard, mountain bike, kayak, SUP and do many a hike with our pooches. We love to travel and see new places in the UK and Europe, not ventured any further in the motorhome YET!
So why not come and join us for the ride, subscribe and leave a message on Victor Mel Dru Adventures. Victor the Motorhome Mel & Dru Stella and Bob
Cello and Avtex (we’ve had both) are far more suitable for a camper van/motorhomes than domestic tat from Curry’s. You’ve clearly no idea about the difference.
I've had all 3 (avtex, cello and now lg) I know the difference! The Lg is far better than the other 2 and it's cheaper, so double win! The Lg in my van has been driven around 10k miles now and still going good so it sounds like your talking poop 💩 that it's not suited to a van
No, but it's my local electric appliance centre so easy for me to browse. I have my avtex and cello TVs away for free because they were so 💩 Glad they work for you but they weren't good enough for me
It's such great fun but I'm gutted my helmet camera angle was off!. Normally use a chesty but didn't fancy an action camera to the ribs if/when I come off so I thought I'd test the chin mount. #FAIL lol 🤣
A few of us are heading into Wharncliffe Wednesday afternoon if you want to join us. I use power director to edit the videos and its one of there library songs, I don't know what its called but its one of my favourites.
You can use the existing cables but you have to move them from your charge unit to your leisure battery and add an inline fuse for protection. It's really simple once you get stuck in and it'll be the best thing you do lol
Really useful! Got same symptoms on mine….. clutch pedal variation and sometimes stays on the floor. Did you change the master cylinder as well, before finding out it was the slave?
Hi, no, we replaced the slave cylinder first because everyone said it was the slave. The slave was faulty as it was leaking onto the clutch but after refitting the gearbox it was still staying on the floor so I replaced the clutch master cylinder (which was a bastard of a job) and that has cured the issue. I've done at least 1k miles and the fault hasn't reoccurred
Yep they dropped the ball I've got 3 2021 models and for£20 they are protected ,an he'll of a bike bit I've rebuilt to my own spec ,hope you get sorted ,come on focus
Unfortunately I can't please everyone all of the time. Which bit of music didn't you like? I'll try better on the next video so make sure you subscribe to see if it's an improvement 😂
Hahahaha, it's an ebike so don't need powerful legs lol Unfortunately I've killed a few minions over the years, it's definitely the tyres, I made that climb on my other bike which has Michelin and pirelli combo. Appreciate the comment though 😂
Do you think it would be possible to switch out most small 3 way fridges (dometic) for a 12v compressor model? And can you get blanking plates for the vents? Only most of the vans we're looking at have the 3 way which im noya fan of. Would rather pay out for lithium plus solar.
Hi, yes it's definitely possible but you do need to cap the gas, make safe the 240v connection and move the 12v from the inbuilt charger to the battery because you only get 12v while the motorhome is driving. Hope that makes sense 😁
Interested to know about your temperature sensor and fan setup. Have you any links for them please. Looking at adding a b2b and a 100 30 solar controller but worried about the heat side.
Hi and thanks for the comment. The temperature sensor was a generic temperature sensor from Amazon, here's a link to one. amzn.eu/d/iMjvZsZ And the fans were purchased with a temperature sensor but they never actually switched off, so I wired them up to that Amazon temperature sensor. Here's some fans that are alot cheaper ans will work fine GDSTIME 50mm Fan 50mm x 10mm 5010 DC 12V Brushless Cooling Fan 4500 RPM High Speed Fan Cooler 2 Pack amzn.eu/d/bSwp6nl Hope that helps. Out of curiosity, How many watts of solar are you fitting? Since this video I've also been using an induction cooktop and an air fryer which will be shown in an upcoming video
The 100 30 is massively over specced for 200 watts of solar. From memory 30 amps is 400 watts, I've got 750ish watts running into mine so I get 30 amps from early morning until late in the evening. You will be better off with a 75 15 depending how you are going to wire them, the voltage can't go above 75 volts.
Yes he's a 2007. I didn't get round to driving it for 2 weeks after this video and the fault was still present so I replaced the clutch master cylinder (which was a bastard of a job) and it's fixed the issue! I'm still glad I replaced the clutch slave as it was leaking and I had a judder when pulling away uphill, that's fixed.
Interesting, the slave cylinder and master cyclinder went at the same time? Glad you got it sorted… just debating whether to replace the flywheel while I’m at it
My mate said I should have replaced the flywheel but I couldn't justify the total cost and as it's a job I could tackle on my own, I figured I would wait until it shows signs of needing replacement.
Hi We are just in the process of doing a similar swap Thetford compressor for Thetford 3 way (in an adria 2019 ) I’d like to clear up the wiring beforehand though. Was your wiring just a straight swap or did you have to run new cables from the leisure battery . Obviously we just want a permanent 12v supply but I was concerned the original 12v came via the alternator/starter battery FYI We have 460ah lithium
From memory, I did move the 12v supply to the fridge from the motorhomes integrated charge controller to the lithium batteries via an inline fuse as the 12v would only work when your driving. Hope that makes sense
Cello are a fantastic company here in the uk Brilliant customer service and to be fair Not expensive at all Never had a problem in our motorhomes . So excuse me if i dont give you a thumbs up And yes in your own words WE JUST ABOUT MADE IT TO THE END The wife said Dont give up your day job Nasty cow she is But like always i have to agree with her If you get my drift!!! Lol
Unfortunately my experience with cello was completely different to yours. I bought a brand new TV which was loaded with netflix and a few other apps, then lockdown happened so we couldn't go anywhere but as soon as we were allowed to travel again, the TV needed an update and netflix was no longer supported!. I contacted cello for advice and there answer was " you need to buy a new TV", needless to say I wasn't impressed and compared to the lg it had poor sound quality, higher price tag and was slow through the menus.
Lg are awful tvs imo. I fully understand you are trying to help others to save. But there are real down sides to the voltage regulators you’re promoting! Ie cheap Chinesium. We’ve seen quite a lot go up in smoke. They are frankly dangerous. I would be weary at min with these
Hi, yes the alarm system is on 365 days a year and it's power usage is so low that it doesn't register on my leisure batteries. I'll hunt for a new link
Great Video and thanks for posting, its the next job i have to tackle, ive not had a failure as such but spoken to quite a few people whilst touring that have had it go. A couple of questions if you dont mind, when rocking the engine forward did you loosen the the other remaining engine mount to allow some free movement to jack the engine forward, and second question, im going to have to tackle this single handed, do you think its possible to drop the gearbox using a jack to lower it - as i dont have anyone to help position it from other side, and final question, that remaining screw that caused you problems - what was it-part of the gearbox mounting or just a screw to hold a plate or something-as you mentioned not putting it back in ?. Thanks again for the video.
Where in the country are you? Someone maybe local and happy to help. We didn't undo the engine mount when we used the bottle jack to push the engine forward, there was enough movement thankfully. It would be possible to drop the gearbox using a jack If you have to do it single-handed and the small 10mm bolt simply held the metal adapter plate onto the gearbox (we did refit that bolt and I know future me is going to hate present me for refitting it 😂) I need to do my dual mass flywheel at some point so the gearbox will need to come out again. If your doing it on your own, it shouldn't take any longer than 6 hours, we could have done it in 2 hours if I wasn't trying to film everything lol If you need any more info I'll happily try to answer
@@victormeldru thx for response, really appreciated, what year is you van - just wondering if its same engine variant, mine is 2014 factory build date.
Mines a 2006 3.0 6speed m40 gearbox. Apparently all of them are a very similar process apart from the gearbox where the slave cylinder can be replaced without taking the gearbox out
Hey sorry to bother you again but I just bought the camera system you have I am not that good at setting it up could you tell me if all the camera leads go to the live thank you
