This version of Emmylou's marvelous dream song is mesmerizing. I noticed that when they finish, the audience erupted instantly with loud applause & you hear one man's voice who is close to the microphone exclaim, "Jesus", in his astonishment.
I love the story about how she got this song. One day, her manager came to her and said,I want you to try this song out and see if you like it. She said she loved it and could they get it. It wasn't until she read the album cover that she found out that her daddy had written it.
We bought a Dodge Caravan minivan to use as our family car, around 35 years ago. It came with a cassette tape. One of the songs on the tape was this one. I've loved this song ever since. My family members have grown up and away. So, now its just me, for a very long time. The song reminds me of a different time. My life will never be like that, again. C'est la vie, say the French. At least I usually have hot coffee, every morning. At least, it's something I look forward to.😢
my grandmother brought me this record to Houston from Denham Springs, LA when I was just a boy. it was my favorite record for years. I finally found a copy of it online a while back.
I have loved this song since I bought"The Gilded Palace Sin" album way back in 1969. I actually like this live version better than The Flying Burrito Bros. version. Through the years Chris Hillman has become one of my favorite musical artists. ✌️
