This is a very nice film featuring High school Friends having a good time and living there lives. This is a great film. Thank you for posting it. I really had a great time watching it. I trust all the students had good lives. This school is a suburb of Chicago. All the students looked very happy and were enjoying there high school years. I hope everyone in this class is happy, healthy and having a good life. Proviso west class of 1973 I salute you.
im THE DRUMMER FOR TEASER THE BAND IT WAS A GREAT TIME FOR PLAYING MUSIC STILL PROUD OF THE SONG AND ALL BAND MY FRIENDS STILL MISS THEM AND YOU JOE FOR ALL HIS HARD WORK , AND TIME LATERS GUYS REDMO PS IM STILL PLAYING 69 YEARS OLD HAA HAA
The album was officially issued by Pickwick Records in 1969. I have a Canadian pressing of the album distributed by Quality Records. Jimmy Dorsey had been dead for twelve years by the time of the album's release. Lee Castle was the musical director that took his place beginning with the single "June Night" after Jimmy died in 1957.
I was 20 years old getting ready to turn 21 some of the best times in my life. And I was working at Jewel in Homewood the commercial that was shown. I miss those times so much.
I have this album ( AND Volume II) and I just typed the title in RU-vid's search window to see if anyone ever uploaded it to RU-vid---AND YOU DID! Awesome, brother, thanks . I searched for Volume II ( I even input individual songs) but didn't see anyone having uploaded the album as a whole, or the songs individually. Maybe when I fix my turntable, maybe I can upload Vol II. Until then, have a great day, and thanks for the memories.
This was a nice blast from the past to hear our old song "Dream Of Youth" on RU-vid. I'm the singer and keyboardist on the tune. I couldn't hit those high notes today without popping a blood vessel in my brain. Fun Fact: The name of the band is actually Vesuvius (spelled like the volcano) ... but it's misspelled on the album. They added an 'i' changing it to Vesuvious. The members freaked out when we got a copy of the album in our hands - but by that time there was nothing we could do about it. WKQX sure wasn't going to recall the albums and change the back cover art for one band. All we could do was grin and bear and hope through word of mouth the minor blunder would get out to the public. At one point we considered changing the band's name to the misspelled word just so people would know we were the band on the Hometown Album. But cooler heads prevailed and we kept the name as it should be and took solace in the fact that at least all our names were spelled correctly. I recently discovered a salvageable audio cassette of the band's unmixed studio recordings and had them transferred from analog to digital for a possible CD release. The end result is "Twisted Tales From Warped Minds" - a collection of archival studio recording (rough cut works in progress), as well as a few live rehearsal tracks recorded on a cheap Panasonic Reel-To-Reel. John Carpenter (no not the famous Director)the Producer/Engineer at Thunderclap Recording Studio in Indiana did an amazing job restoring and digitally remastering the tape ... disproving the old adage "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" ... by accomplishing just that. If you weren't a band member and didn't know how the songs were suppose to ultimately sound, these essentially unfinished recordings came out pretty damn good. Before a decision is ultimately made about possibly releasing this for public consumption I need to get the OK from all the band members. And unfortunately with the passage of time locating the four other members has proven to be a difficult task. If anyone knows the whereabouts of drummer Greg Shaginaw please let me know - then the old band will be complete and I can move forward with the project. If the only song you know from Vesuvius is "Dream Of Youth" - you're in for a shock.
I'm pretty sure I saw your band playing a gig with some of the other bands off the album at what was Ohareport or Northlake hotel, back in 77 or 78. I remember a group with a flute player that was pretty good, I think that was your band and the band Teaser which I thought was great too. It was a good show and only $2 or $3 to get in. I had the album for years then gave it to my son for his record collection about 5 years ago. Good luck with your project, I hope you get all the guys to agree to release it.
I just tuned in to Wkqx just now but it is all 90s...thay should go back playing the stuff on their album, you know make it chicagos classics..that would be cool!!!

Back then, it was common for teenagers to smoke cigarettes. You would see kids walking to school smoking. Americans were skinnier too. The selection of beer was small. It was mostly Budweiser and a couple other brands from the Midwest. Concert tickets were cheap. So easy for people to see rock bands live without paying insane corporate prices. Malls were crowded due no online shopping.
They mentioned a Marine getting killed in Beirut... 9 days after this report, the Marine barracks in Beirut were hit with the original suicide bomb, killing 241 US service members. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Beirut_barracks_bombings
5:03 Ah....Yes, when NBC landed Connie Chung in '83', their ratings skyrocketed. Causing a mad dash from every Network and their local affiliates to get their own hot, female Asian reporter/anchor.
Yes, but it's an older bit that was re-used for Letterman's final NBC show. You can tell it's older by the fact that Frasier doesn't have a beard, which he had during the filming of the last season in '93, and that Cliff is wearing his old uniform. By '93, he was wearing the dark blue jacket. And yes... I need a life!
She went to ch. 7, but from 1985-97 we had Marin and Magers on ch. 5 which was great. My mother taught for CPS at the time and had just bought our house. This strike was long.
Strange not seeing the news open up with a violent shooting or something like that. I've watched several different newscasts from the 80's, and none of them opened with a violent shooting. Weird.
So how is everything been with you do you still live in the chicagoland area ? Because I remember I seen you on the bus a while back but you could have moved since then you know everybody wants to leave Chicago but then again can you blame them lol
This could easily be the first day I remember,Idk exactly but my earliest memories have to have been around that time. I don’t live in that part of the country but news was pretty generic back then
I listened to WCFL very intently in the late 50s and early 60s. I liked Elson's interview show from the Pump Room of the Ambassador East Hotel during the winters and of course the Bob Elson & Don Wells play by play of the '59 White Sox. I'd love to hear some air checks of these broadcasts. Anyone have any sources?
