Im an old enough millennial to remember the Jerri curl. Now I’m thinking of what other toxic black trends I can capitalize off of because someone made money off of repackaging historic toxicity. I think I’ll bring back freaknik.
I got the Carefree Curl in the early 1990's when I was 14. I don't know if it was just my hair, but unless I kept spraying activator on it every few hours a day, I had a dry crunchy rat's nest, and it was embarrassing! I'll just stay natural, thanks!
That's a lot of money, 600.00, my goodness! It's nothing but a jheri curl. After 3rd day curl activator and moisturizer will keep it nice. I just read on another site they're charging 1000.00. Ridiculous price. What's the difference between the ginna and Jerri curl?
Gina definitely hustling them. If I recall from my Jheri curl days that we had to do touch-ups at 3 months. I can't imagine how you look with 6 months of new growth and your ends are half curly. We pd $30 not $600+
My aunt could of done that curl for you for $45 it's been done for decades but a pimp came and played yall out of hundreds and hundreds of dollars. That's a crying shame. She's laughing all the way to the bank.
I know this is old, but when you said you don't have the time or patience to do what you need to do in order for it to look nice, it actually broke my heart a little. 4c hair doesn't need anything "done" to it (braidout, twist out, bantu knots) to look nice. I think we have been programmed to believe that 4c hair is not as manageable or desirable because it has no visible curl pattern and thus needs to be manipulated. But there's so much beauty in wearing puffs, mini twists, afro, wash n go's, etc. I respect your choice and your preferences, but I just wanted to comment on that piece for anyone else who happens to come across this video like I did. 😊
I understand and I think people need to realize that hair is versatile and it's okay to not want to wear your hair in puffs and afros.. I did it for 2 years, then I wanted a change and more manageable hair. 4c hair is not easily manageable. It requires a level of maintenance I don't care to give it at this time 🤷🏾♀️
So after black people finally went natural and got rid of all of those toxic chemicals now someone comes along and repackages the toxic chemicals and black people are jumping on it again 😢😢😢 STAY NATURAL!!! those chemicals are dangerous not only for your hair and scalp but also your Health!
Not all 4C hair is the same. My hair is thin and I get fairy knots when my hair is natural. I’ve lost so much length and have so much more breakage with natural hair.
@@mirandataylor6385I can understand that because my hair is the same way. It’s thin but long past my shoulders, longer than it’s ever been. This same curly hair do can be done with gel. I’ve been using Phamily hair care gel and it made my hair grow. I won’t get a perm, curly or straight because I know that it’ll look thin and I don’t want to see that again. I’ve been going to a dermatologist for a year to get treatment for a type of alopecia so that it can get thicker.
Love your hair but as a stylist my question is that aren't they still straightening first before rodding? and also with every curly perm even old school jerri curls you can choose your rod size I love that she has definitely making a mark with the Gina curl again as a stylist most of us know that it really is just a modern day Jerri Curls and a regular curly perm for my Caucasian sisters ..you look Amazing and I love the look ❤️
Honestly for all the negativity is unnecessary and you guys are truly uninformed the chemical in a Jheri curl and whichever other chemical curl products are the same her TECHNIQUE!!! Is different and go take a lesson on how to perform it so you can get your money up ultimately she has additional steps that none of those cheap box products you could find at your local store when the chemical is reapplied she protects the hair that’s already processed so it doesn’t get over processed come the rinse out and ultimately gives you education on how to care for your chemically processed hair another valid point to make she configured a way to have any black women do a twice a year chair visit !! She’s saving folks money if you think about the accumulation a salon visit ever two weeks plus weaves and the local curl chemicals recommend 8 week touch ups and people abuse there hair by applying every time they see a little new growth. Gina curl may not be for you but be respectful when you go to the bread aisle in the grocery store there’s many different breads we don’t buy them all but guess what someone is buying them !!! Y’all tasteless don’t make it a black and white thing in this instance it’s not and she’s open enough to show and provide all people to learn her techniques while many people gatekeep there products and techniques on how they achieve hair goals.
If I was you just keep using the shampoo and conditioner that came with the type of curl you had in your hair. And keep your hair moisturized and drink plenty of water. Also if you want it out just let it grow out over time and clip your ends until it's out
Thanks for the update. People are always hating on Gina and besides the price the results speak for themselves- for most people they get a lot of growth.
