Hi, jazz newbie here! Could anyone share some tips for appreciating the bass and saxophone solo when the pianist stops playing chords and/or the drummer stops playing? I can’t even count the time in some parts of the bass solo. Thanks in advance!
Just close your eyes and *feel* it ... without thinking and without counting. There is a lot of work & study that goes into this kind of improvisation, but when it's happening at this level they are guided by vibes more than theory.
I heard this song from the animation 'Blue Giant'. This song came very first in the movie, and I fall in love with the animation at that moment thanks to this song.
