i raced in 40c last year at this event.. my body hit a wall test 4 didnt think i was ever getting out of them woods. i think i bounced off every tree in test 4.. roll 69 this year
@ClintWallace113 Yeah, that wall has still been there for me even this year in the first few races lol. Running 40+B this year, Row 37. Looking forward to this race
Damn man, that sucks. Hate to hear it. Broke it riding, Im guessing. I had a good time there in Dade City, wish I had more for yall up front. Heal up and we'll see you out there.
Man this video is a year old, lol! Yes, I left beginner after this race last year. I've been racing Senior C. I'll self promote to Senior B for next year due to Enduro results. I've done well this year racing enduros. I've only raced 2 H.S. this year with last weeks race in Dade City being my best finish in 4th place.
Thanks man! Its addictive. I grew up riding and bought that bike, a KTM 500 as the first bike Ive owned as an adult. Im 43 now, last time I owned a dirtbike I was in high school.
C class seemed like the right move coming from beginner last year when I bought this bike. I haven't owned or ridden a dirtbike since I was getting lunch money from my parents. Much older and fatter now, and I've made a practice loop in the woods behind my house and been putting in work.
I wonder the same. Its a RAM mount which is super sturdy but Ive yet to take a digger with it. I thought about rigging a wire to it so I wont lose it if it does come loose. As far as wiping it, its easy to reach with the swipe if a hand.
Thanks man, yeah I was pretty smoked during tests 4 and 5. I was hoping to be in better shape for it, but clearly, I wasn't. At least I know what to look forward to for next year. Are you going to Gobbler Getter?
I first rode this Enduro on September 21 1980. Back then there were two Enduros put on by Suncoast and sun runners m/c club on the Croom tract. Up until around 99 or 2000 we were able to lay out new trail every year. It seems every year since then we've slowly lost trails and now all we have is 50 miles of whoops. At some point we lost sight of what a real Enduro was and threw out time keeping. Today we don't have an Enduro but rather a hare scramble with resets. It's sad to see what has happened but all good things must end I guess.
So I've heard. I started racing late in life as that was my 4th Enduro. My father raced Enduros and HS, and so did my older brother. I've heard there used to be great races and some beautiful properties, but as you said, all good things must come to an end. It seems we, society, are or have ruined a lot of things. Im just glad I can enjoy racing now with my son and friends. Thanks for watching, I realize my vids aren't as exciting as the fast guys 😅.
@K9Yoshi1 Yeah I got a 2001 I can do pre mod to stay with the kid on Sat but I'm hoping to hop in a few Sunday races on the 250f just not sure which class yet
@@danielyoungblood101 Nice! My son got a KTM 200xc-w for Christmas and will be riding the St Marys Enduro for his first race, probably wont race a HS this year. Sucks they got rid of Sportsman
You were doing great! Bret? 4th in your class. So imagine if you had rain in your first test. No doubt it was muddy for ya but for us poor bastards on on row 92 and up it was a nightmare! I rode the first two tests on the rain ok but test three had so many hills and I got slammed and pinned in between a pine tree and my bike. How’s the knee?
Hey there! Yes, it's Brett. Yeah, I definitely felt for those in the later rows. Was lucky to have some good dirt there in the first 2 tests. Knee is getting a little better each day. With both PCL and MCL tears being partial I lucked out and they're nonsurgical. Waiting on insurance to approve a Donjoy PCL brace and start PT next Tues. Shooting for 4 to 6 week recovery per the conversation with the knee specialist. Hoping to be ready for LBJ in Sept.
Man, I don't think Im going to make it. I've been dealing with a long-lasting leg injury. I'm seeing a surgeon on Thursday and will know more then. I've already taken the time off from work since I was planning on going. I saw you won at Indiantown. Congrats!
You are no beginner. Lol. I watched you pass a ton of people including my buds, JB and Kody in evolution class and Frank who you said was battling you. He’s on the old yellow Yamaha 490 then you battled for a while with some vintage guys. You’re probably a B rider. Then you pass one of my son’s on the second lap and it’s a good video of him riding lazy. Lol. Good riding! Now you’re kicked out of beginners. Happens to a few of us… lol
Thanks for the sub and kind words. I grew up riding in the woods. The last bike I owned was a KDX 200 as a teenager, I'm 42 now. I bought this bike from a friend in November and a buddy talked me into joining FTR and racing a HS. Needless to say I'm hooked and having a great time. I had a blast riding behind those guys on the vintage bikes, they were working!
@Howie Fine I live in Deland. Im a member of Daytona Dirt Riders sonwe ride at the Strickland Ranch. Theres a few other small pieces we ride at as well. Going to try to make it over to Croom a little this summer. How about you?
