One of my Lawson engines has the carburetor that screws in on pipe thread, and has the rotating salt shaker looking joke made on the air filter housing. Incidentally, I have a muffler that looks just like the mushroom looking mufflers on Lawsons, but it’s smaller than half-inch thread. It’s in real good shape, but I wouldn’t want to put a bushing on it and run it in a half inch Application because of restriction reasons. Do you have a cool collection there brother!

Shut it off its not a air cooled engine. It cranked hard after running because it's fresh and you got it hot. That's not good.
@ctyankeejr

I can see your concern. I’m no expert, but I’ve learned a lot from the engines I’ve dealt with in the past. It did not have much compression before the first run. The rings were most likely alittle stiff from sitting so long. It’s common for an engine to gain compression after running its first time in awhile. These engines run at such little rpm’s, the test run we did won’t hurt anything. The most it would do would break the engine in. I appreciate your feedback, I always keep temperature in mind while doing first runs.

@ctyankeejr I work on these old tractors. It's what I do. Just trying to give you some advice. Bout a minute is really all you want to run one with no coolant. At one point I saw over 240 on your gun. Just the fact that it was sitting there puking steam you ran it too long and got it hot. Do what you want just trying to share some knowledge. One of the biggest mistakes people make on fresh engines is not properly break them in. You won't have good compression till you seat the rings. Good luck

I will be putting out another one, I lost a bunch of footage from the build. So I’ll compile what I have and collage some pictures for the last one. We paid for the lumber in cash and saved a bunch. 17 or so. Keep in mind this was during Covid. If only we started a year earlier.

My neighbor and I bought an Oliver OC-3 and for the last few months, we have been working on it to put the old gal back to work. We finally got it to run, but then the engine started overheating. A record radiator an an unconventional flush solved that problem - high-pressure water and air through the drain port on the block. She runs very well. It has a backhoe attachment which seems to pose another problem: The backhoe ia very heavy and it is kind-of spooky to drive over terrain that isn’t level. The front rollers bob up and down while moving with the backhoe on - I worry about flipping the thing. I noticed you have what looks like weights on your seating area. Any advice on manipulating the center of gravity on that tractor?

Very interesting, I like seeing things like this that you don't see very often. Having an implement on it is awesome too, and even better if you take it out and use it a bit. A future video idea for you: Cover all the models of Silver King tractors, and what is the difference between them, years produced, HP, how many made, etc... It seems you are getting to be the Silver King expert, so it would be neat to see more info out there on them, as I know many people (me included) don't know much if anything about them. Keep up the great work!

Hi Jacob and thanks for watching the video and leaving a suggestion. I honestly wish more people were like you, this really helps me out. 👍 You may have seen my most recent video of picking up some other silver king models. My plan is to get them all together sometime and talk about them. I have mentioned the history awhile back, but I’m aware as the channel grows I need to start putting old information in the newer videos. So thanks again for the comment and please share with your friends!
