@JWork Gemineye writes an intellectually challenging poem about how poetry can make this world a better place and you equate it to him trying to give black people glory? It was a white man reciting a poem about how he uses gods positive energy to help him write great shit like this. Either open your ears AND YOUR MIND, or keep your negative racial thoughts inside your obviously feeble mind.
This poem makes me want to go back and read whitmans book of poetry again well honestly it justs makes me want to learn history...J you sound like a douche to me his poem is his poem its him expressing himself to us you dont have to get it or like it havent you been told if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything
@jwork23 This is mearly just a sign for those who are lost and for me i will take this on as a sign not for the fact that he was talking about god but for the fact that poets are not reckonised as an artist and because of that .ppl are lost to insignificant ways of others because it was more catchy , the complexity and deepness is what we are missing a deeper connection with our soul. and when a poet speaks it exsposes the soul
@jedeye22 His name is Gemineye. I don't know where you can find a list with all of his work. But i do know where you can find out in which Def Poetry shows he performed. Go to Wikipedia and type "Def Poetry" in the search box. You will get a long list of all the Def Poetry Jam episodes, with the names of all performers. Gemineye appeared three times. Plus, Gemineye has a Facebook page with a lot of information. Just Google his name and click on the first link.
It's a pretty self explanatory poem. He's saying his poetical skills were God given and how other poets of the past have inspired him. As well as saying some other lines that are indeed the truth, ignorance should be a crime. Not every poem has to be insanely deep, he's just telling a story and telling it extremely well.
It's easy for Racist people to make blanket random statements about general topics to rationalize their misgivings. Nowhere in this poem is the artist mention "Black Peoples' glory" (WTF?!!) or any other BS they spew...Y'all need to stop talkin' crazy.....Real Talk. Peace.
J: My guess is God's a bit more forgiving than you suggest. Neither of us know but this piece of work is a beautiful expression of peotry's purpose put to a medium (spoken word) by a gifted artist. His style and use of metaphor is not (in my opinion) offensive or inglorious to God's purpose. We are, however, all entitled to our opinion.
Considering the time of year it might be approppriate if you did some research into the story of Christmas. Or, if you don't want to do that, take a history of religion class at your local community college. You'll probably find some things that might shake your faith.
