All things considered even though the massaging my have killed the babies I still think it probably turned out better than what could have happened if Isis had surgery.
Yes and yesterday my girlfriend sent me a peer reviewed research paper on another type of boa that showed that type of boa would not have a birthing response when temps were too low so it could very well be that the massaging helped. We learned a lot and we have a lot to be grateful for! Thank you <3
@@happybasins no problems. I was aware of your setup, but now I’m actually also a fan. I’ve never got to hear or see that side of you. Thanks for sharing 👏
Great episode! I can say after seeing the way Abby’s animal interact and explore that basement in person, what she’s built with them as far as trust and confident/interactive animals is second to none that I’ve seen in person!
I’ve popped into that group and definitely wouldn’t go back 😂 they assume every beginner is on the same level of understanding and bands anyone who thinks differently from what they teach.
Super interesting, per usual. I’m inclined to believe that nature will balance itself without our interference……but on the other hand, our interference has permitted invasive species to take up residence.
my Timors from Ryan are more inclined to pee than bite but honestly dont pee every single time like wild cought Timors do until you tame them. I dont regularly hold mine either to tame them down, they just arnt inclined to bite
Trasi and NBPK were a vital key to my learning as a newbie! I can confidently say I wouldn’t be where I am today without this fantastic group. I highly recommend the group to anyone considering getting a ball python! I now have 4 beautiful, thriving snakes (3 bps and a baby boa). I’m on the mentor team so now I can help others learn too! Thank you Trasi, you rock! 😁💖
Cross breeding of carpet subspecies is a mess. In Australia, we had countless pure lines and localities. Now, it's hard to find pure coastals, most localities have been lost in captivity too. Locality pure stuff is so rare and not in demand here anymore. I don't love what the 'designer' market has done to the Aussie keeping landscape.
I made my DYI COLD plunge, thanks! ❤️ About the sanification, so do you think the uv with filter is just enough? What about to extend the duration of the water using sometimes hydrogen peroxide?
Thank you for this, I loved the extensive questions, long form discussion, and detailed and honest answers by Steven. I've got a one year old arriving soon (from the breeder friend that was mentioned!) and i'm beyond hyped....
dish soap and water overnight is golden and super safe. Then pretreating an enclosure to move the animal into and repeat every week is super golden. Tried and true. 6 weeks at the worst.
What about getting a taller, shorter freezer? I prefer not to lie down, so a smaller freezer would be better and cheaper presumably. Me and my wife aren’t that big or tall, I’m just under 5”7 and my wife is like 5”5 and we’re currently using one of those blow up “plunges” with the plastic sticks you slip inside it for stability. I’m considering this verses buying one of those cold machines you stick into a regular plunge like mine that cools it down. Is it worth it? Can you give me any benefits I’d notice over the other method? Currently maintaining ice is difficult, especially because it’s summer in Alabama and the cold tap is literally about 85-89 degrees F! With about 40 x 500ml bottles of frozen water from Walmart I refreeze every time I can get it to about 52 degrees. It will be easier in Winter but obviously it’s not ideal, and in any case having to refreeze the bottles is annoying. (I feel like I’ve ruined some of my frozen milk I had in there I’m now using as giant ice cubes from the temperature changes). So a machine that cools the plunge vs a freezer system like this is surely the way to go. Just wondering if you can sell me on the freezer system over this one - thanks! 🥶 😂
@@Snake_Boi I’d just like to say that I have managed to get the temp down to 43 degrees F now. Whoo!! Makes a big difference ey?! I can’t imagine doing the 32-39 degrees ice bath, but I know I have to get there over time. I’m sure it’s as different there as it was from 62 to 43.
@argusj6993 I'm paraphrasing but Nick Mutton said, "If you want the biggest JCP get a female, if you biggest also get a male." Check out the episode with Nick for more on that.
Wow, I'm listening-to/watching this again and realizing how tightly you have edited these videos. This really improves the listening quality a ton. Not to mention you're getting some very solid experts on your podcast. Thanks for doing these! You should be getting 10x the views on these at least.
but are these " dumb " behaviors due to being kept in captivity . all animals are brilliant in their own right . keeping animals in house with very little to no stimulation surely dumbs animals down over time. ive seen them in the wild and i wouldnt agree with this but then i wouldnt agree with anything steven says .
@@Snake_Boi I know people with huge aquarium settings that they use the fully programable lights to do everything their aquariums need. I've helped one guy setup a router just for his smart bulbs, it's NUTZ
