Just wanted you to know I’ve watched your channel from the start of my OT journey! I just graduated last month and found out I passed my boards a couple days ago!!!! I’m going into peds too❤️
I have an Exercise Science Degree and was just accepted into an OTA program. Long term goal is OT. I would love to hear your perspective of transitioning from OTA to OT 😊
@@alyssapacurar9762 Not really. from what I’ve seen in doing my research some science based majors would help to cover some prerequisites. But for the most part, if you have a great GPA and are accepted, some programs will allow you to take those prerequisites before your core OT classes ☺️
@@its-dynaisha Great question! I never went to OTA school, but I’ve worked with some great COTAs. I’ll make a video on the key differences and similarities! Thanks for the idea!
I really enjoy watching your videos, very educated, it can really help those that are in the occupational therapist field and similar fields. Keep up the great work 🎉
I feel so much better knowing that the reason I probably dread going to work everyday is more because of the place/company I go to rather than the actual work. I love getting to know these little people and getting to help them grow, but what gets to me is the time constraints, having to figure out how to word documentation, and trying to keep up the energy for the whole day. Maybe I'm more cut out for part-time peds or just need to get away from my current company; the DOR is a toxic PT
One of my classmates shared this with the whole class. I love that you took the complications away and just walked us through an activity analysis. And the cultural awareness, too! I thought braids like that had to be done by someone else. Can’t believe you did that all yourself 🤯🤩
I am a student interested in this field and I had a question, what's the average you make, because accordingly in NYC where I live they make about $118,478 and $140,916.
Thanks for the video. I have a question. One day I was carrying my newborn baby to the supermaket. Then, this white lady said she loved my son's hair and asked me if she could touch it. What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Girl your content is popping for me! Like it’s giving new subscriber 😛. I graduated highschool with my CNA at 17 and now I’m working as a Nurse aide in a hospital in Atlanta at 18. In the past I’ve researched a lot of registered nurses thinking that’s what career path I want to take and now all of a sudden I’m thinking about occupational therapy! My first job at a nursing home i was working on the rehab unit and now in the hospital I’m on the rehab unit 😭. So I’m like why not? Anyways your videos are really helpful and informative i love it!
Hey guys… really cool guessing game… sho is very competitive so she will find away to make it harder to win but she gets it from her mom. When I see you games on😂
Hi! I came across your video looking for advice on if it is possible to work FULL TIME during OT school. I currently work as a Psych Tech at a Psychiatric Hospital. The hours can be flexible and with how expensive rent is now-a-days and I don't think I have a choice but to work FULL TIME. Do you think it would be possible to work 3, 12 hour shifts a week to still get my FULL TIME benefits while also completing my MOT? Possibly overnight shifts (which won't be a problem for me with how horrible my sleep schedule is) and I would probably be able to chip away at homework/studying a little bit throughout the shift. I could also consider working Friday-Saturday and one day during the week. (I am also okay with sacrificing my social life and little bit for 2 years)
Hi!!! Whew girl!! You will have a lot on your plate, but I believe anything is possible with the right support system! Make sure you’re taking care of yourself mentally and physically while doing this and I think it can be done! You will have to stay disciplined with your study schedule, but I think you can do this just based on the plan you laid out here!! You got this!!
I appreciate how your material provides a relatable and effective way for black women to learn about the industry. It's clear and free from unnecessary details, making it easy to understand. Thank you! I encourage you to create more occupational therapy videos.
Solution: Seek employment at a black owned firm. The dominant culture provides the African American community 98% of their employment opportunities. It's up to you as a token black employee to make the best of the situation.
Emotional attachment is very hard for me, I would be a total reck so this wouldn’t work for me, but I love kids so much, listening to everything you said it’s more pro’s than cons
Girl do you realize how absolutely Gorgeous you are??!! Your Skin is Perfection and your 👀 are Mesmerizing!!! Your Lips and Smile just Light up your Whole Face!! I’m serious Girl, You are Absolutely Undeniably Stunning!!! 😉💖💖💖💖💖💖🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
