Hey there! I'm Michelle, a nationally certified child passenger safety technician and mom of 2. I am the founder and owner of Safe in the Seat. My goal here on this channel and in all we do at Safe in the Seat is to bridge the gap between the science and technical side of car seat safety with real, everyday mom life. Car seats can be confusing- but armed with the correct information, shared in an easy-to-understand way, you will be car seat confident in no time! And, as a mom of two, I am on this ride with you!
We bought the Evenflo after comparison. Yes the Evenflo is nice on releasing only car seat but they both fail in smooth ride. Wish both had better absorbing wheels and shocks. Gets caught in any crack
Wow. I wasn’t aware of this. I’m due next month and I have seen videos on infant car seat installation but had not yet looked into forward-facing. I have a lot of family members with children and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use the top tether anchor. Will def be sharing this video. Thank you!!
Here because I’m 37 weeks with my 2nd baby and husband was the one who installed our Doona with our first. My nesting phase wants to include knowing how to install this car seat properly because there were a couple of times I noticed it becoming a little loose and I could not for the life of me figure it out. I’ve had to always ask my husband to fix it lol
I worry more about being rear-ended by some idiot. And my son-in-law parks to close while on the side of the expressway. So I watched (my rear view mirror) this video to see if rear-facing is just recommended for safety in head-on collisions. And it is. It has more to do with the type of crash than (it has to do with) generally speaking, overall. But guessing since we do travel forward at high rates of speed, crashing while moving forward is most likely.
This video may have just saved me a potential major problem. I’ve had a car seat (Maxi Cosi) for almost four years that we used for our first born. We didn’t buy a base back then because he was born during hard lockdown and we didn’t go anywhere except to his doctor for checkups, of which I always went with my partner so either of us used to ‘carry’ the car seat. Now I’m about to have our second baby and guess what? No bases available anymore for this model car seat because it was discontinued! Now we’re in a crisis! Until I started Googling around what to do and there was your video 🙌🏾. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Why would I put my nine year old in a car seat?, so he can feel like a baby maybe it's so his friends will make fun of him or maybe it's just to make him look like a retard! The kid is literally as big as his mother What about a woman who weighs less than 100lbs should we put her into the car seat as well? What is this world coming to?
We just got this seat installed. The harness straps are over our 14 month old’s upper thighs and not her pelvis/hips at all. Is that ok? Very different from how her Chicco Keyfit35 harness fit.
We got the Grace snugride 35 life infant car seat. I have read the entire manual front to back multiple times and I don’t see an answer to these questions. I also looked in our car manual as well. 1. What angle do the back seats need to be for a rear facing infant car seat? Do they need to be at 90 degrees or can you have them leaned back a bit as long as the base is level? 2. Can the car seat touch the back of the front seats if in the middle? My husband is tall and where he normally likes his seat it lightly brushes up against the car seat. We can easily take the car seat out with moving the front seats, but I don’t know if it’s safe. Please let me know!
Looks like a huge pita using this. Was considering it and really glad I watched this video and learned a lot of other tips in process - love the videos - Thank you
Hi - just installed my Evenflo Dual Ride car seat. The base is very secure (moves less than an inch). However, I'm noticing that when the car seat is empty, the seat itself is quite wobby/rattly/noisy when driving. Is this normal?
Thank you for this informative video! My wife and I are expecting our first baby here soon and could not figure out how the base was wiggling a little even though I made sure it was securely tightened. This video was reassuring as I was checking the improper place for tightness. Thanks again!
Thank you! I felt so stupid not knowing where to enable mine. I have a Volvo XC60. It wasn't on the door. It was rather on the panel! I'm 34 years old. I should know! Haha but thank you.
Does this car seat have anything that jabs the baby in the back? I've seen some reviews about it but I'm curious about your thoughts on comfort since you're clearly an expert lol
When we install the base, there is less than one inch of movement when we test it. However once we add the seat, it feels like it’s moving back and forth a lot more than an inch when we shake it. Is that normal?
Such a helpful video. Quick question- I am struggling to figure out how/if I can adjust the buckle. It pokes into my son’s thighs and I just can’t figure out how to adjust it. do you have any suggestions?
Thank you!!! We were having such a hard time getting it installed correctly. Pulling up the front of the cover and pulling the strap back through was EXACTLY what we needed to do! Just saved us from having to return for no reason! <3
I think this video is assuming you buy this car seat after infancy? My son is 8 and still quite comfortable in his 4ever with zero regrets. Perhaps this is also because we are a small statured family, plus my parents have their own boosters for him so we rarely take it out of the car. I am 100% thrilled I made a one time purchase that I never have to think about again because I already have too much to think about! I vacuum it out here and there and it still looks like new. I am quite sure this video is true for some, and it’s a great thought process. But what I’m saying is, if you’ve already got a 4ever it might not be an awful fit for you/your family depending on many factors.
