On trumpets: James Morrison On saxophones: James Morrison On trombones: James Morrison On guitar: James Morrison On bass: James Morrison On piano: James Morrison On drums: Some guy not James Morrison
OMG. I've been playing trombone since 1998, my 5th grade year. I currently play for a local concert band. I would love to try my hand at something like this. Such a wonderful sound.
I have played trumpet and piano, so at least I know how reading music of transposing instrument, at least a B-flat instrument like trumpet and tenor sax. But James Morrison could also do so with alto and bari sax, which is E-flat instrument, and also reading the bass clef with trombone. I think that's also incredible skill to be able to sight read music for different instruments, and that's also a great skill along with ability to play the instruments.
Funny story...when I was in middle school I played in the school band and I came from a poor family. I got my trumpet as a hand me down from another family member who played trumpet in their youth....my trumpet was silver and it was old...I looked old but in was in good shape for its age. One day in band class the other kids with their brand new Yamaha trumpets where joking on me about my old silver trumpet and its ragged case. And I'll be honest I was feeling pretty down about it too...they were making me feel ashamed of my instrument. But God bless my teacher she apparently over heard them joking on me and she asked to see my trumpet and looked it over. She then told the other students that "if they actually new anything about their instruments they would know that my trumpet was actually better than all their brand new Yamahas. That it was much more expensive when it was new than their trumpets and produced a richer sound.....I have no idea if she was telling the truth or just blowing smoke to make me feel better but it worked. From that moment on all those kids wanted to see my trumpet and handle it and it boosted my confidence and made me a better player. Prior to that when all the other kids where making fun of my poverty trumpet, I'd sit low in my chair and hope nobody was noticing my old instrument. After my teacher said what she did about my instrument I no longer felt ashamed....I felt like I had an advantage over the others and from then on I sat upright in my chair with my instrument pointed forward instead of at the ground. I quit band after my 9th grade year because I got interested in other things but god bless my band teacher for saying what she did about my old trumpet and giving me the boost in self confidence....I'll never forget your kindness Ms. Spivey.
GOSTO MUITO DE APRECIAR TUA COMPETENCIA, TUA TECNICA, TEU CONHECIMENTO E SOBRETUDO TEU SOPRO COMPORTADO, MELODIOSO, SUAVE, AGRADÁVEL AO ESTILO DOS MEUS IDOLOS, TROMPETISTAS. Egal, in welcher Stilrichtung man spielt.
Fantastic video! A French-horn amateur player here, with an intention to play cornet because of the conical bore, V mouthpiece and more focused tone..., now a rotary trumpet ..
